X1, F1, Maschine, Midi Fighter

Looking to get an add-on for my S4.

From my understanding, Maschine is more a of production tool that comes with it's own software, and X1 and F1 are used to complement existing hardware (say the S4).
Also looking at the Midi Fighter, but last I heard, you couldn't map it to the Remix decks in Traktor 2.5

Could I use the Midi fighter/F1 to produce accordingly like the Maschine is capable of doing (say... in Ableton)

Any help and input/direction/links would be great, thanks.

You gotta figure out which direction you're going, then the choice becomes clear. You're basically right about what you've read, but you have to interpret the facts into how they apply to you. If you're using the S4, you probably don't want to spend money on an X1, as the controls are all very redundant. You could use a Midi Fighter, but be cautious with poor execution of performance effects and amateurish cuepoint routines. The Maschine is a fair choice for people looking to make their own beats, but it has limited capabilities in comparison to more proprietary software/controller systems. The F1 would fill in the missing hardware you need to fully control Traktor 2.5, but the remix decks do have a learning curve to them! Really think about what you want to do, instead of what controller you want to buy.

If you dont have a budget I would get a maschine unless you really want to use the remix decks. In which case an F1 or MF3D are the only options that i know of

If you have an S4, the X1 is redundant as all its controls are basically duplicated in the S4. You could map it to control FX units 3 & 4 plus some other things instead, but if that is what you want to do, I would go with a K2 instead. The best overall complement to the S4 to fully utilize traktor 2.5 is the F1. Don't have a MF or Maschine so i can't comment on those...except that you should really think about what you want to accomplish and not focus on the controller. Let your workflow and style dictate what you buy, not the otherway around.

I think Maschine has much more production potential than any of these other options. Obviously, it comes with Maschine software, is ridiculously sensitive, has poly aftertouch, etc.

I play mainly house and hip-hop/rap, so i know the f1 is great for cue point juggling along with the remix decks, but i guess what im trying to accomplish is eventually producing my own music.

if i can map my F1 to ableton and produce that way, i guess that gets the job done as well right? instead of having to get a maschine?

sorry if im too vague, but i guess im trying to produce as well remix instrumentals with my own samples

I don't think that the F1 is useful for production. I find Maschine is fantastic for production. At the moment, Maschines cannot control full remix decks.
