Hi there,
I would like to know if any of you had experiences with the Stanton SCS 3d/3m controller. I've just bought 2x 3d, and so far loving it.
Hi there,
I would like to know if any of you had experiences with the Stanton SCS 3d/3m controller. I've just bought 2x 3d, and so far loving it.
I also have two 3d units - love them. Cue point juggles that are possible with the multi-touch surface are really impressive (I'm using the 2to4 preset).
Now all I need is the 3m for play list control and the separate crossfader and EQ sliders. That should open up the 3d preset to do other things since a lot of what it does today will be offloaded to the 3m (hmm, maybe play list control should be on the 3d in Circle Mode by default - yeah).
What I don't like (though it hasn't caused me too much trouble to date) is the difficulty in customizing the presets. This aspect is critical for wide adoption; the ability for an individual to customize their gear for their needs is very important, obviously.
Since you already have 2 3Ds, i'll suppose your interested mainly in the 3M. However, here are a few things with the 3D.
With a bit a practice, the multi-touch scratching can produce sounds you can't get anywhere else. I just put up a vid on my youtube page(Imfromthafutur). One a my favorite things to do is put one of the decks in a small loop and then scratch it like you would a tone. i also like playing with loop mode; tapping the in & out with the beat to make breakdown FX.
Now, the 3M...the crossfader kicks ass! Start working on multi-touch stuff on the faders the minute you get it.
Also, I like to put the same song on both sides, put FX on one side and then do some "right to left"-"right to left"-"right to left" crossfading. If you're into a lot of FX, you gonna love the faders at the top; scratch, slide, sweep, whatever ya like, they do it well.
I LUHVVVVVVVVVV!!!! the scs 3s. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I probably shouldn't say this, I hope Nemonic don't see this, but I leave mines plugged up all night long so when I get up to make a headcall, I can swing through the kitchen and do some scratchin. It isn't just for turntablist type stuff, it works perfect for mixing. I've described some mixing tricks on the Stanton forum. I'd love to talk more but I have scratching to do.
have one scs3d, buying another very soon, love them.
i bought two scs 3d's. annnnndddd i have mixed feelings about them. i think they feel too limiting without the mixer section, and i can't find a release for the 3m anywhere! also, i don't like having to jump back and forth between the different modes, which would mostly be solved by having a 3m.
it seems like i have to think more about settings and what surface does what at different times, instead of just having all my control intuitively laid out in front of me for quick and easy access.
the DaRouter software seems a little flakey too... i feel certain that it would freeze up or crash or one 3d would stop working if i were to use it in a live setting.
they do look great though, and the multitouch is awesome! but i'll probably return them![]()
I have brought them in a gig for the first time last night and I had a great time with it. I think that for looping, Triggering, it's quiet amazing.
I don't have yet the SCS 3m so I had to use the filter on the 3d, and that's a problem when you want to work with this simultaneously with effects.
Also I have noticed, like on the VCI-100 some problems with the lights. Sometime it stucks or doesn't respond like on the screen.
I've also tested different versions of the DaRouter, and the one working the best actually is the latest one 1.0.29, some older version would make the controller totaly out of work. I'm using also the 2to4 Preset, it work well, but can't wait to see with the 3m.
Another thing, If you have a Mac Pro 17" you would not have enough usb ports for all your gear.
1x audio DJ 8
2x SCS 3d
1x external HD
Consider getting an usb router.
Touch surface is probably the future in DJing but it still in its earlier beginning.
I feel the same way regarding the mixer section but the good news is that the 3m is in production now so it should be out soon -->

What I really want is play list control and a crossfader. The 3m should solve both of those issues.
And yes, the DaRouter software can be touchy but the 1.0.29 beta seems to be the most stable.
Hi the 3m is avaible, I've just received a call from the distributor that mine just arrived!
Also we should get a details mapping list with a visual tutorial, I've noticed that by pushing 2 times on the button like FX, EQ it would give other options.
SCS 3d review comming REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLL LLY soon
keep your eyes peeled on the front page![]()
