It's a touch controller by the looks of it.
There are 4 larger pads under each touch strip, a longer touch strip area (60mm ish), and a smaller touch area above that. There are 8 strips that follow that formula. To the extreme right of the controller is a 9th strip. This last channel starts at the bottom with what looks like 8 (but could be 9) smaller buttons. Above that is the same smaller touch area that is on the top of the other touch strips. Then above that is a longer touch area. So if I had to guess I would say that this is a navigation and/or scene selection row.

Am I the only person who prefers real faders and buttons to touch controls?

Of course not. But aren't there already a LOT of products out there that have real buttons and faders? There are some very cool benefits to using touch strips for faders. Isn't it OK to explore that as well?Am I the only person who prefers real faders and buttons to touch controls?
