    Default Monitor / Speaker advice.

Had a quick search (although I can barely use the search function) and the 2 which jump out at me are:

    1. KRK Rokits G2 - 5? 6? 8?

    2. Reloop Wave - 5? 8?

Anyone had experience with both? Also is the extra £s worth going for anything bigger than the 5s?

These will be used predominantly for home DJing, an introduction into production, and (I know, I have read all the articles and I am going to hell) for small gatherings.

Anyone have any input? Love the little control on the reloops, but I think the Rokits look lovely.

Yamaha HS50/HS80M are supposed to be great as well.

KRKs sounded great to me, but Reloop is nonexistent in the states.

Hadn't thought about the Yamahas, just read a few reviews and it says they are extremely true and require serious thought to room acoustics. These definitely seem great for production, but I will be using mine predominantly for production. Will try and get to a shop to have a listen.

DV247 carried the Rokits and Yamahas when I went to try them out.

Looks like they closed most of their stores earlier this year...

There's Gear4Music here in York, and I'm sure there are plenty of other decent showrooms in many of the major cities nearby.

yamahas are a different league than krk and, absolutely, reloops.
Even tho the rokit6s have a really nice balance between sweet sounding mids and solid bass, i'd rather get the hs50m for production work.
For djing i'd go with the krk 8s, just because of the massive SPL they can put out.

KRK 8s. The 5's sound nice but no bass. I'd get the 6's because its not as big but the 8's will deliver more sound when you're really into it. Better to have more sound than not enough.

I haven't listened to the Wave 8s, but DJWorx thought they were pretty awesome. Mostly because they're somewhere in between being monitors and traditional loudspeakers.
