External Sound Card Help
Hey everyone!
I've noticed that many videos from DJTT, Dubspot, etc have an extremely rich sound to them. I'm trying to figure out why my mixes don't have the same crystal clear and bright sound to them. Obviously many of my tracks haven't been mastered, but often even after following tutorials for Massive, etc I often don't get the same rich and clear sound as the tutorials.
My thought is that I need to get an external sound card to handle the digital to analogue conversion instead of using whatever the stock thing in my computer is (I have a PC so chances are it's not very high quality). Would this give me a higher quality sound even pre mastering or are my mixes really just that poor? I know I'm no professional producer but my tracks should sound better than they way they currently do.
My main question is will a sound card SIGNIFICANTLY increase the quality and clarity of both the sounds I hear in my headphones when mixing and increase the quality of my rendered tracks so the sound is better preserved or should I keep working on my sound design? I'm not really looking into turning to turn pro or anything, but I've been a musician since I was 5 and I can't stand poor quality music and recordings. I don't have top shelf speakers but I can tell the difference between an amateur recording and a commercial one very clearly and I'm ready to start moving toward the latter if I can. Any and all thoughts, comments, etc would be greatly appreciated!
