    Default Advice on speakers

I have a pair of Rokit 6's, but my apartment is very small and I can never crank them up half as much as I'd like to. Aside from that, they take up more space than I'd like (they're currently sitting on some cardboard boxes). I was thinking about downgrading and that's ok with me. I used to use computer speakers and they were great. Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III are on sale so I'm tempted to swap em out. Thoughts on this or any other smaller speakers?

Depends on budget, but just becuase you want smaller monitors, it doesn't mean you have to downgrade.

    What budget do you have?

Are they for production too? Or just for the decks?

Just for decks, although I did just get Ableton. I got both of my Rokits for at steal at $175; I don't want to spend more than $150.

shame to use computerspeakers with a Nexus setup..
Im quizzed with the lack of interest in quality speakers by the vast majority of DJs.
Don't you enjoy good soundquality, don't you like music?
bad sound kills good music imo.
If you put down just half on what one of your decks cost you could get a pair of genelec monitors, great quality and takes minimal space.
Sorry for the rant but just cant understand that you put down 4000 euro on deck/mixer and only wanna spend 150 on speakers.

Any reasonable 2.1 computer speakers will be fine. The sub will make a difference. Put it on the floor, next to the wall/corner.

The odds are good that some acoustical treatment will make at least as big a difference in the room as any speaker upgrade.

Rockit 6's are too big? sad day. That is the absolute minimal I would even consider having in front of me. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves.
