Default Akai MPC 500 - worthwhile bothering ?

So I have some kit up for sale and been offered an MPC500 as a straight swap (which is fair $wise)

Question: Too outdated to bother with, or worthwhile to fool about with on the couch ? (or on the bog)

Mostly house orientated myself and haven't seen too many good uses of one for 4/4 stuff ...so opinions please.

It's a great little self contained unit. Great for sketching ideas out on...

The 500's a cool unit to mess with, but you I'd personally hold off until I can get the 1000 instead (especially with JJOS)
