Default Pioneer DDJ-SX Traktor DJM-2000 Style Mapping

    All,

I am using using my Pioneer DDJ-SX in combination with Traktor Pro 2. I mainly use the pads for hot cues and therefore not fully utilise its potential.

I was wondering if we could generate mapping to mimic a pioneer djm-2000 effects unit? For example the slicer / roll bank could be used to select effects while the tap button activates the FX and wet / dry controls the magnitude. The other bank could then change the rate / beat of all the selected effects 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 etc. By using this system left and right you can have a total of 16 effects and 8 FX rates / beats.

The effects isolator can be created similar to Stewe's mapping. The three effects knobs would be effects isolators for low, mid and high frequencies. Unfortunately the song has to be duplicated and as such it does mean sacrificing a deck.

    Let the discussion commence.

It's nice to see some feedback on the Isolate mapping and support deck concept

I usually like to call it taking advantage of that deck in order to create a function which doesn't exist in software. This should be a good option for guys who mix by using two decks in Traktor anyways so decks C and D can serve as Isolators.

I'd love to see someone build mapping Like that for the Pioneer S line of controllers!

Over the last few days I finally managed to free up some time and have a good look at the mapping.

Effectively the LHS roll starts with CH08.Note.E0 and ends with CH08.Note.B0. The slicer is similar and the rhs are on CH11.

To adjust the rate / beat of a certain effect the FX bank need to be in single mode. I have remapped the slicer pads to a button accompanied with set to value to achieve this. A pad corresponds to a value between 0 and 1 which equals a rate of for example 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 etc. This works quite well with the delay FX but it did not create this traditional pioneer sounds of quickly moving between effect beats.

I addition a lot of the other effects do not have the rate option or use a different distribution. Therefore it would take quite considerable logic to map all the options for all the effects.

Finally it seems that the original pioneer v100 mapping already linked some of the pads to certain effects. Unfortunately I couldn't find any logic or process to the pads above. I therefore could not remove this association and it would reset half of the setting if you flick between deck 1 -3 and deck 2 - 4.

At the moment it looks like quite a steep mountain to climb. I still think it is possible it just would require a disproportional mapping effort to let's say buying an EFX 1000 or RMX 1000.

I own a DDJ-SR and have mapped a lot on it myself, for traktor as well. Why not use the pads as presets for FX? A lot easier with real benefits if you like to combine effects. As far as I know the roll tab is pretty much hardwired, but the slicer is free to use. Don't forget that you have group 1 through 4 to use as well, just press shift plus the pad designator. It's not used in Serato, so it's not really mentioned in the manual. Only that there might be a use for it in the future.
I personally use the slicer tab for the loop recorder, with the sampler volume controlling the dry/wet. Works great.

    Default DDJ-SX 2.7.X Mapping

    New year, new mapping.

I have started to map my DDJ-SX completely from scratch. The aim was to have a solid mapping which maximizes freedom and functionality.

I have initially focused on the deck A and C, the mixer, Remix Deck C and FX for A and C. Once I am happy I will convert everything to B and D as well.

I still have to map a few grid settings/adjustments. The slicer needs some refinement as well. Depending on robustness of the duplicate deck it might require some new logic. It would be awesome if you guys could check it out and let me know what you like/disslike and what you would want to see in the mapping.

    Player

    - Play/Cue/Sync/Slip/Key/Vinyl/Tempo all work as per CDJ
    - needle search as CDJ
    - Adjust tempo with shift + key lock currently 4 - 6 - 10 - 16 - 25 - 50 - 100%
    - Loop sections works as expected with loop move through shift + 1/2x or shift + 2x
    - Trigger or Select Hot Cue With Hot Cue Pads
    - Delete Hot Cue with shift + pad

    Mixer

    - EQ/Gain/Filter/Faders/Cue/X-Fader all work as per DJM

    FX Section

    - Effect are triggered using the respective buttons
    - FX banks on the mixer are triggered using the respective buttons
    - Seperate FX banks by selecting deck A or C
    - Scroll through FX by pressing shift and the FX button
    - Toggle between single and group effects with shift + tap

    Browser

    - Depress the large central encoder to enlarge the browser
    - Rotate to scroll through tracks
    - Load to assign to a deck
    - shift + encoder/depress to scroll and open folders
    - shift + load/prepare to add to preparation list
    - back and load/prepare are snap and quantize respectively
    - shift + load A, shift + Load B to copy deck A to deck B etc.

    Remix Deck (Sampler)

    - Slot 1, 2, 3 and 4 trigger cells with pads
    - Press parameter to switch from cell 1, 2 to 3 and 4 and vice versa
    - Press shift + parameter to switch from 3 and 4 to 5 and 6. Use above to switch again.
    - All 16 cells available and automatic sample page movement
    - On deck C use the hot cue page in remix deck mode to trigger key lock/fx mode, shift + pad for cue/slot punch
    - Select hot cue/roll/slicer or sampler and use sampler volume to adjust volume. Preferably use non-looped sampled in the fourth slot.

    Slicer:

    - shift + slicer (slip/flux mode off) activates 16 beat auto loop slicer. I might have to hard code this to 8 pads.

    Peace
