Default Traktor S4 and Ableton Push on Windows

    Hi everyone,

I am trying to connect a Traktor S4 and Ableton Push on a Windows 8.1 64 bit PC. I have Jack Audio running and LoopBE. I have the midi sync'd but I have 2 issues. First is the midi falls out of sync. The second issue is I can point my track decks to Out 1 and Out 2 OK but Out 3 and Out 4 are very scratchy. I am able to hear one deck through Ableton but not the 2nd. So my question is should I be checking something in my config or do I need an external soundcard? I know this works much better on a Mac but that's not an option. However I did consider running a Mac OS in a virtual machine and porting all the USB through the hypervisor to the Mac OS guest although I don't know how much lag there will be in the audio. I've been creating remix decks from loops in Ableton but that is not the same. I want to play live. Any help is very much appreciated.

I am not speaking from direct experience, but only what I keep hearing time and time again - Windows 8 has some pretty serious issues when it comes to working with DJing and Production. I keep hearing everyone say "Upgrade back to Windows 7," usually with the line "Yes, it's an Upgrade."

Thanks for the response I think I might build up a Windows 7 VM to test that. I also just re-read through the install guide for Jack Audio and it mentions that their product doesn't work with 64 bit apps yet unless you get the version from the developers that does support 64 bit apps. I thought the 64 bit version of Jack would support that but thats only 64 bit Windows. I am using 64 bit Ableton and Traktor so I'm going to test with 32 bit and see what happens.

I've solved my problem for the most part. What I'm doing is running the audio from my PC to a live input into Traktor and then syncing the midi between Ableton and Traktor. I have to make up the difference in volume with the gain but since the S4 has a soundcard this workaround isn't too bad.
