Current Pop music that will become "classics"

So I just read this list on Rolling Stone about the top 100 songs of 1984 and it truly is amazing how much good music from that year has stood the test of time.

So it got me to thinking, what pop songs of this generation will stand the test of time. When I turn the "oldies" station in 30 years what do you think they'll be playing in 2044?

I don't listen to pop at all so I honestly have no idea.

Probably Adele (not that I like her at all). Paolo Nutini has a good voice so some of his tracks are bound to stick.

In terms of people who actually write their own song...? Maybe Royal Blood but I suppose that's quite heavy to be called pop music. Unfortunately Coldplay will become "legends", to my lasting regret.

definitely agree with Adele. Like it or not "rolling in the deep" is a pretty amazing song. Rest of her tunes will probably stand the test of time.

I could maybe some of Disclosure's tunes or Daft Punk - Get Lucky lasting the long haul

oh and Call Me Maybe - we will never get rid of that song. perfect pop song. If you hate it you know it, if you love it you know it. ugh

I think majors fail to find big things, and when they do , they fail to push them enough, so they waste time and money on one trick ponies.

Lorde and Adele are quite amazing, but they're like already forgotten.

Pharell William, Daft Punk , Britney , green day , Korn : they're not news. They're a great chance of success today , but they're all from the 90's.

In 30 years, the classic radio will be playing 40 years ago's classic, not because the current stuff aren't worth (imho) , but they just don't last as long as they should. the attention span is quite short.

I don't know, most of those 100 songs are crap. Feel nostalgia for them but they aren't that great for the most part so I imagine that a lot of not so great music of today will be known.

I think this one is a sleeper, people can hate on her or whatever but I think it has that club vibe to it.

Probably tracks that have combined elements of pop and hip-hop in new and interesting ways (Fancy, Problem). 2014 (and late 2013)will also go down in history as the year of the sampled sax loop (Problem, Talk Dirty To Me, and countless imitators).

Dark Horse and Rude have been so huge that I can't imagine a list of pop classics that won't include them in 25 years.

Not saying anything about quality just about what will be remembered.

That Rolling Stone list is pretty messed up.

But there definitely isn't going to be anything with the strength of Prince's Purple Rain singles. Music is too fragmented, and there are too few labels (with only 3 majors) who aren't willing to take a chance or work to develop artists. Heck, even Prince likely would have been dropped by his label today due to lack of hits before he got a chance to record his Controversy album, much less 1999 or Purple Rain.
