Default Traktor Kontrol S8 Filter Question (+ some spontaneous S8 commentary)

Just got my S8 from djtechtools and so far finding it to be a pretty pleasurable experience. That being said, I am missing the warmth of my Pioneer DJM filters. Regardless of the Traktor setting that I go with, none of the presets has the resonance I've grown accustomed to. Maybe I'll ultimately find this to be "better" but right now, not so much. I CAN replicate this by twiddling the resonance on the Filter:92 so I guess what I'm ultimately curious to know is if there is some magical MIDI-Mapping way to set my Filter:92 the way I want it and then map that configured effect to the High/Low-Pass filter knob on each channel of the mixer? If not, I guess I can just teach myself to reach a little higher up the mixer to do what I need, but this forum is loaded with smart and creative mofos so figured I'd at least open up to you first.

The S8 is still a bit of a head-scratcher for me given that I've spent 20 years manipulating vinyl or jog-wheels, but I think this is the direction things are going so I'm forcing my old arse to learn some new tricks before I fade into irrelevance. I can handle the discomfort with the controls as it's a path to becoming better at my craft. My only concern lies with the mixer portion of the controller. Coming from a DJM-900 Nexus, the NI mixer still feels like a bit of a toy... maybe it'll just take time. I have about 24 days to decide if I'm gonna stick with this or swap it out for F1/X1s and my old 900 Nexus (a la Ean Golden) or A&H Xone92 (a la Richie Hawtin). Getting the filter piece worked out may ultimately be the only thing I need to finally ditch the packaging and marry this thing.

Cheers & Happy Holidays to all my DJTT brothers and sisters.

Hello and welcome to the forums and great first post.

To answer the question as far as I understood you can't remap the s8 anyway (otherwise yes that could have been possible if you were ready to sacrifice one or two fx units to get the filter how you like them to be - fx aside, the choices provided for filters are quite nice. yes they're not like you're accustomed to be that would be the case with amost any change of gear anyway, I like the Z choice personally).

like most controllers do, but your unit is on the top of the food chain. Think about all you get for the price point, that should put things in perspective too. Controllers comprise on a lot of parameters that is true.

The mixer section cant' compare to the DJM or A&H ones, not a fair comparison, on the other hand both alternatives (s8 or mixer + x1s/f1s) do both have strong appealing.
I guess apart from the filters which seems to be a strong criteria for you, do you like the screens? Are you going to move your unit? Why the s8 in the first place? etc, etc...
Nobody can answer that for you. But whatever you choose as said before, you cant' really go wrong anyway.

However if I may add an opinion, considering what you wrote and how you're annoyed about the filters, may be you need a transition period with controllers. So a couple of X1s and at least a f1 (or 2) coupled with a nice mixer may be what you need at the current time. When you'll get a broader view about what you can do/like to use and all possibilities and restraints of the software you'll have time to decide. What do you think?

There’s also an almost hermetic community that exists in many areas of dance music, where serious hobbyists feed off each other’s expertise but barely connect to the industry – despite many of those involved actually working in it.
