Default knob controlled risers in a live performance and other live performance extras

I've been looking at adding extras to use when performing a live set...

one of which is creating a riser effect that you manipulate with a knob to shape it.

I have set up a track in ableton with a looped noise sample.

I have a rack setup on the track an one knob mapped to control the frequency of an auto filter set to band pass. which then goes through reverb and auto pan to give it width and decay when the sample is stopped playing

usage would be to trigger the looped sample, and manipulate the sound filtering it up or down, stopping the sound say when the kick drum comes back in and it then decays off.

I'd like to improve how this sounds.
I've been looking, and not yet found anyone that has done this.

I would use pre made samples, but I'd never get the start time right so that the sample climaxes at the point where eg. the kick drum starts.
hence being able to manipulate a riser effect means you can get it to climax at exactly the right time.

    other things I've got working:
I've managed to get the nord beat app communicating from my iPad to ableton to play a drum rack, which is very powerful drum sequencing.

I have set it up in ableton to on the snare or kick to do a beat repeat using one knob for creating fills / build ups.

anyone got any other ideas or has done anything that is a useful addition to live performances?

Munitions is Part FX bank, part Vocal Tool, part drum machine, Munitions is not revolutionary and it’s not intelligent. It is, on the other hand, a way of using a technology nearly all DJ’s already have at their disposal in a creative way that provides a set of tools to take any set to the next level.

Divided into Vocal Hits, Drum Hits, Risers and Droppers, LFO Effects and more, Munitions is a performance DJ’s ideal hip holstered 6-Shooter.

Locked in at 128 BPM with all delay tails, panning etc set to the beat, Munitions gives you the ability to scratch, cut, or treat your CDJ like a drum pad triggering sounds that are not simply “part of the next track you’re cueing,” but are designed to work as impact hits overtop of builds or during breakdowns, etc.
Set each riser/dropper as a clip (or, if you're feeling clever, you can create a Drum Rack full off 'em), set the launch mode to GATE, and then, you can hold the button for as long as you want the riser/dropper to play for, while tweaking your knob. When you let go of the clip play button, the clip will stop, and you'll get the reverb/FX tailing off.

Myagi Sound Design from the bpb post does not exist anymore. it's just a holding page on their hosting.

Google it, mate. I'm sure it'll be available somewhere.

But the principle is the same for any riser/dropper, and there are TONS of free sample packs containing them on the web. Munitions is just the one I got hold of a while back...

The Vengeance FX Sample Pack has some great ones - but, TBH - you can get plenty of free risers on the web.

I've had issues finding risers I like.
Seems all the top EDP producers all use the same one.

the flat white noise loop works, but using ready made samples that are risers does not work for how I wanted.

the other things I have done are:

my iPad 2 is a step sequencer for drum racks, and I have set an arpeggiator on each the snare and the kick. when the arpeggiator is turned on, it overrides the pattern from the iPad and I can manipulate the rate to do a drum roll / fill

I've mapped the velocity of the kick, snare & clap, open high-hat, closed high hat
I can get a very tight mix in combination with sidechain running on the incoming audio from Traktor.

I have my idents/drops voiceovers set to play using my launchpad.

I started using the sidechain tecnhique with traktor shortly before mad zach ad his mate came up with using the same technique as example 1 in this video / article:

Does anyone have any other ideas and techniques for things that can be done in a live performance set?
