    Default Help with setup!!!

    Hi people!

I'm from Brazil and havebeen playing around for some time, now I'm mostly playing in a party I'm throwing monthly. My current setup is a Pioneer DDJ-SB and a Kontrol X1 mk1 running Traktor in my macbook black. The big controllers are WAAAYYYYY expensive here!!!! So I want to create a frankenstein-like setup. Can you help me please???

    Thanks a lot!

the ddj-sb by itself seems to have all the basics covered and the x1 is great for control over 2 fx units. what other features do u want to control? i also like multiple modular controllers but also trying to minimise the number of cables etc i have to plugin i played out with a f1, x1, launchpad and launch kontrol x1 the other week.

The only thing I don't like on the SB is that I have to use a lot of modifiers. To use more than 4 hot cues,or adjust the gain, etc.
But I found a guy here in Brazil that makes custom midi controllers, I'm thinking about making 2 units to control the decks, and use the SB as the mixer part and other functions, so I don't have to use a lot of shifts and modifiers.

ah sure... having to use shift buttons can be annoying - or at least increases the possibility of screwups and means u cant change two sets of things at the same time because theyre on different pages/layers

if its extra buttons/pads u want u cant really beat the launchpad - esp at the price. needing to adjust the gain occasionally using a shift probably isnt a big deal if youre using auto-gain in traktor etc.

Why not use the hot cues on the X1 and get a Z1 to minimize the setup?

he said he doesnt like only having direct access to the 1st 4 hot cues. im not keen on using hot cues on the x1 either actually... i rarely use 8 but usually use more than 4 and prefer them laid out horizontally. its nice u can at least access them all tho if needed...

the z1 isnt a bad idea if he got rid of the ddjsb... x1+z1 is whats in my bag for simple mixing combining with a launchpad if i want direct access to a bunch of other stuff...

The SB already has shift modifiers built in to the firmware. If it was me I'd map shift to toggle a modifier (0,1) and map state 0 to all basic transport plus some auto loops. Then in my other layer (state 1) there should place for all 8 cues.
