S2 MK2 will not connect
Hey everyone,
I recently went to start up traktor pro 2 to start mixing like I usually do, but when I turned on the controller the USB light just slowly flashed and pro 2 said it wasn't connected? I'm not sure why it's doing what it's doing but I've checked my settings and they haven't fixed the problem from changing the settings. When plugged in and turned on it doesn't show any input/output options. If anyone can link to what will help me or tell me some step by step troubleshooting options then that would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to get back to mixing as soon as possible.
Thanks,
JaBiRD

Hi,
I had to deal with the same issue in a S4 MKII a few weeks ago. Opened a NI support ticket but they couldn't help me. What I found in my case (Windows 7 SP1 64bit + Traktor 2.9.0) is that some OS update or software I installed modified the ACLs (Access Control List) of my C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder. It removed even permissions for SYSTEM account, which is very weird. After trying to manually restore the ACLs to the correct settings I gave up and finished reinstalling Windows on my laptop.
I don't know if this is your case but, for me, it was the only solution.
SYMPTOMS:
· I was able to install the S4 MKII driver without any problem.
· When connecting the controller to laptop the USB led kept flashing.
· In Windows' Device Manager, the S4 was recognized as an Unknown Device.
· As a result of this, Traktor and S4's Control Panel didn't recognize my controller.
CAUSE:
· After you install the driver in your PC and plug in the controller in the USB port, Windows locate the necessary driver files into the driver installation folder. The next thing that Windows does is to copy those files to C:\Windows\System32\drivers. As SYSTEM account had no permissions to write into that folder, the driver couldn't be installed and the S4 appeared listed as an Unknown Device.
SOLUTION:
· Sadly, reinstall Windows and configure S4 before any update is applied. Then, if you want to change Windows Update Settings, is up to you.
BTW: NI support told me that they saw another case similiar to this, but with Windows 10.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
David.
