Question Trigger remix deck sample in combination with modifiers

    Good evening

I'm trying a somewhat strange mapping. I'm aiming to have one button trigger a sample in the remix decks. Then I want that button to be disabled (i.e. not be able to trigger the sample) until I hit another button. I'm going at this with modifiers and have hit a bump in the road. It seems Traktor's way of handling events is eluding me.

I have two buttons mapped to Modifier #1, both are "Direct". One button sets the modifier to 1. The other (re)sets it to 0.

Then I have one button (the triggering button) also mapped to "Slot 1 Cell 1 Trigger" with the condition that Modifier #1 = 0. This means that the button should trigger the cell and set the modifier to 1. Thus preventing it from triggering the sample until the modifier has ben set to 0.

However: This only works the first time and now I'm stumped. There are only three mapings on two different MIDI buttons. I've tried different combinations of "Hold" instead of "Direct" and also inverted the input.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

More information for the curious: If I set the triggering button to "Inc" I get a sense of the awkward inner workings of Traktor. If the condition for the "Slot 1 Cell 1 Trigger" is set to 0 then the sample never triggers. If it's set to 1 I need to press the button twice for it to trigger. I can't wrap my head around the way Traktor listens to input.

(I am terribly sorry for not uploading pictures, the forum seem to not want this pictured.)

If you are using a MIDI controller that you can manage with NI's 'Controller Manager' (i.e. Traktor KONTROL/COMPLETE/MACHINE series), load up it's template then double click on the manager's software button. There you can define the mode of the button. It should not be toggle (on/off-switch = this is probably your setting because you have to press the button twice); nor trigger (registers only the press of the button, bad for remix cell trigger); but 'gate' (hold).

Also the first button should set mod#1 to value = 1 on 'release' (invert). Remix Cell Trigger commands are hold buttons, so as long as you hold the first button, mod#1 should start and stay on value = 0 until you release it.

    Hope this isn't confusing...

    Thumbs up Solved

It is not a controller that show up in the Controller Editor. But I managed to solve it with your tip of the editor.

It's a Brain Jr that runs the controller and it has its own config program (available through the wiki) where I can change some of the settings you mentioned.

The solution though was to change the way the buttons behaved. They used to send notes and so I changed to them to CC to see what happened. Now it's working flawlessly. The inverted button press for changing the modifier (which I'd tried before) now works like a charm.

Will see what happens as I expand the controller.

    Thank you so much.

Yup! For some reason Traktor wants velocity of 7FH while working with inverted button options. Livid's brain uses value of 64 for a Note OFF message. I've had also found this bug at the time I was working on my CNTRL:R mappings.
