Post MF Twister indicator control while turning knob?

    Hi,

I'm trying to use my MF Twister with ControllerMate and reading encoder position or position changes works flawless. I can also set one of the encoders/LED indicators to a specific position by sending that value to the Twister.

But I can't set the position of an encoder/LED position while that encoder is in use (=beeing turned), e.g. when the encoder reaches 127 and I want to flip it over to 0 to make it "endless".

    1) Is it possible to receive and send Midi signals on the same channel at the same time? If not, does the Twister not accept Midi massages while the encoder is in use, even when there are pauses between Midi massages?

    2) What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers

Angry 1 year old firmware bug?!

So, I was digging a bit deeper in the DJTT forum to find out that this non responsive LED indicators while turning the encoder is a...

1 year old firmware bug, that makes 50% of the advertised functionality of the MF Twister not working!

    (see http://forum.djtechtools.com/showthread.php?t=87514 )

Sorry, but thats just so off limits. Without the host application controlling the indicators in real time, all that LEDs are just useless eye candy. Every midi controler with encoders with endstops can do better (and for a much lower price).

From the DJTT online store ( https://store.djtechtools.com/produc...ighter-twister)

"Full Feedback: Each encoder has an 11-position LED ring and a large RGB status indicator at the base. All LED colors and operation are MIDI controllable, and highly configurable using the Midi Fighter Utility software."

I love the MF Twister and I really would like to use it to its full potential - but if such a bug persists for 1 years, something is really wrong.

So, if there is no solution to this problem (or am I missing something?) I will have to send it back, get my money back and buy an Akai APC-40 (because that old brick has fully controlable led indicators even while turning the encoders!).

Here is the original thread when people asked for month for a bug fix:

    http://forum.djtechtools.com/showthread.php?t=83789

After directly contacting the support from DJTT I got the following update:

    1) The bug is well known and high priority to be fixed.
    2) The original programmer of the MF Twister firmware left the team after the last update (about a year ago).
    3) They just (after 1 year!!!) hired a new programmer.
    4) They plan on releasing a new firmware for the Twister soon (something in about 2 month).
    5) The idea to make the firmware open source was arround, but the head of group/company had other plans.

    So, what to say....

    1) It would be nice if DJTT is posting information like this by themselfe.
    2) It seems very hard to get a programmer these days... sorry, but thats just ridiculous.
    3) Why not make the firmware open source? That would open up the MF Twister for a million new applications (and push sales as well).
    4) I really really hope they get things done soon. The hardware is very good, but is crippled by the software.

Has anybody (successfully) hacked into the Twister/uploaded his own firmware?
