Default jog wheel problem, always activated, PLEASE HELP, Video Included

For a quick look at the problem, check out this video I just uploaded to YouTube
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksQ7iwZa6N4

When the metal plates are installed on the jog wheels of the VCI-100 they are always activated (red) as if they are being triggered by my touch. When the metal plates are removed the jog wheel performs normally as long as I am touch the screws to trigger the sensor. My understanding is that the screws are the metal trigger and when you install the metal plate it turns the plate into one giant trigger by creating a connection with the metal plate and the metal screws. What I don't understand is why whenever I install the metal plates the light turns red and the jog wheel is activated, even when I'm not touching it. Does anybody know what's going on and/or how to fix this?

it might be that you have your touch sensor levels set too high. on the back panel of the vci unit next to crossfader curve control are two screw-like adjustments, one for each jogwheel. try turning them back towards minimum and see if that corrects the problem.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! That's exactly what it was. I bought this used for really cheap because the jog wheels would cease up and I couldn't get the red lights to deactivate. I gutted the whole platter mechanism and tightened up the screws on the white plastic spacer, oiled up the axel, and now they spin like butter. Now that you've helped me with this they're like brand new minus the comsetics.

    thanks again!

    Cheers
