Default Help me not make another mistake!

    Hi everyone,

I know these which controller threads might get a bit tedious but I need some help please!

I'm looking to get a new controller and I think I've pretty much settled on the VCI 300 but want to be 100% before buying.

I was away from djing for quite a while and am used to vinyl. I like the feel of mixing that way but the controllers I've tried so far don't do the job.

I bought the Torq Xponent last year and while it was very good, I liked the jog wheels they gave that vinyl feel, it was just too unreliable and unstable. I wasn't over keen on the look of it either.

I heard some good reviews about the American Audio dp2 but I sold that a week after buying because the jog wheels were useless.

It was hard to get hold of the Vestax controllers here in the UK for a while but they seem to be in stock most places I just wasn't sure if I could justify £600 but I'm going to take the plunge.

A slight spanner in the works is the fact I've heard good things about the Reloop Interface Edition?

I mainly want to know if there is any advantage getting the vci 100? From what I can work out it uses different software? While I'm sure I'll get into effects etc I'm more bothered about having a solid and stable unit. I understand the 300's jog wheels are better?

Also, does anyone know where I can pick one up a bit less that the £589 rrp? I've seen a fe go on ebay around £500 but it hardly seems worth saving that little for a 2nd hand unit.

    Cheers

    Mabbs

£600 for a vci-100? really? that seems incredibly steep.

They're $500 over here, and I got mine for about $375 on ebay. Even adding the price for a firmware kit and usb to serial cable, I came out ahead of street price. I will say it's one of the best controllers out there. What software are you using?

    VCI-300 ! He says VCI-300 not VCI-100 !

@Mabbs maybe you should take a look at the ns-7 by numark if you like the oldschool vinyl feel. But it is even more expensive than the VCI-300 ...

Oh whoops. He mentioned both vci-100 and vci-300 in the same paragraph and then went on to say "does anyone know where I can pick one up" and I got pronoun confused <.< my bad.

Yeah NS7 seems to be the jazz!

What's the go with Stanton's Digital Motorized Tables & Digital Mixer?

They cost just under 3 grand for 2 tables and mixer here in aus! The NS7 is just over $2000

Was wondering if you already had software (or whether you needed to buy that also) as if not you could consider the digital vinyl route and grab Traktor Scratch Pro and some 2nd hand Technics and a mixer, and add controllers to suit thereafter?

The NS7 looks great but I hear Numark tend to have a number of bugs and not the best support? Plus it's a bit out of my price range to be honest.

I did consider the digital vinyl but I really like the portabilaty of the mp3 controllers. Does this method work as well as an mp3 controller? Do you just hook the laptop up to the decks and use them as you would the mp3 controller?

You need the timecode vinyl on turntables which are plugged into the actual vinyl2digital interface which then goes to computer! Is that it?

Also look at the ongoing costs of new vinyl and cartridges, etc! Not sure even how long a cartridge or whatever you call them lasts for but they still need regular replacement i assume!

In your case I'd go for serious look at NS7 but if money is like me and few n far between toss up between VCI-100 or VCI-300!

    I'm going the VCI-100!
