4 channel usb mixer for traktor

4 channel usb mixer for traktor

Looking for a simple solution to use with my MIDI-fighter. No need for any jog-wheels, just a simple 4 channel mixer that I can use with traktor. A built in soundcard would make my life very simple, so that would be awesome too!

Any tips?

My budget is about 300-400 usd.

what about an xsession pro and audio 2? throw in an lpd8 and your set.

you could get a ddm4000 in that price range as well but then you would need a way to get those 1’s and 0’s into the comp. ie; midi interface / soundcard with midi thru (someone please correct me if I am wrong about the midi thru part please) which would put you over budget…

the gain knobs on the ddm dont do midi, so u could have 2 main decks and 2 sample decks w volume and filter controls (what i do).

u just need and Midi-to-Usb interface~ $20
i use the NI Audio2~ $80

no midi thru. just the midi interface and soundcard

M-Audio UC-33e could also be an option worth looking into. Very versatile little thing, can only recommend it.

xsession pro and audio 2 dj id say

The combination of a xsession pro, lpd8 and audio 2 looks really nice actually.
I also found a nice price on the DDM-4000 but it looks a bit bulky for what I want to use it for.

EDIT: To tell you the truth, I’m torn. The DDM-4000 looks great..

i own a ddm, but always wondered “what if i knew about the m audio uc33e back in the day and bought that instead?”…
hmm… either way i mix external so thats why i didnt

I bought a Behringer bcd3000 you can map it in dozens of ways it has a soundcard and they sell for about $125-$150 I like mine for the price I have owned the x session pro & a Xponent in the past the Behringer BCD3000 is great if you do not need scratch control and want a soundcard built in.

I’ve seen the uc33e around and it seems popular, but I’m a bit stumped about how it can be used. It has lot of possibilities for mappings, that’s for sure.

Wow it’s really cheap! And looks quite nice too!
Aaah, what to get…

Someone elsewhere suggested a http://www.decks.co.uk/products/akai/APC20 which looks nice. I’d like some more pots for each level so I can fiddle with each tracks mid, high and low, but maybe there is some controller for that?

Hmm.. I guess you can assign it using the buttons and the Cue Level knob.

Hang fire for a couple of weeks. Behringer have got a couple of REALLY nice looking mixers (incl. USB/Audio Interfaces!) coming out at NAMM…

NOX606
DJX900USB

Im waiting to hear about the DJX 900 from Nemonic

Googled the DJX900USB and the previews look very promising. Can’t wait!

i hope the price is just as good

I can’t see it being very expensive. First off, it’s Behringer, second off, it’s JUST a 4-channel audio mixer w/USB. I doubt the build cost is that high - street price just depends on the kind of mark-up Behringer are putting on it.

They’ll sell FAST, for sure. Behringer is DEFINITELY the company that has it’s finger on the pulse of modern DJ’s.

Keep it up, Behringer!

Well, you can really just map it like you see fit, if you have no other controller what-so-ever, it might lack a few buttons, but apart from that it’s great. What I did was to use 2 columns (so 6 knobs and 2 faders) for each channel: I mapped the 4-band-eq, the filter and something I don’t remember (gain would be a good option, if you feel like you’re capable to do gain matching completely by ear) to the 6 knobs and the volume to the left fader (the right fader I practically did not use, but there is again a couple of plausible options to think of, maybe gain or pitch - but for the latter the resolution might not suffice). The buttons I used for the basic stuff I needed (transport controls, deck focus, cue select, bass kill, … - you name it), while using another controller (first the LPD8, later the Kontrol X1) for cue-points, loops and effects.

I’ve got one of these and have used it as a four channel mixer. It work flawlessly but its just doenst feel like a mixer. Knobs are too close and the faders feel flimsy. It was nice to have four decks with eq’s + 4 full FX on one device but I still ended up going back to my 3 channel external mixer. Im considering stripping it apart for my DIY project but I need to find some way to interface with the CPU.

bcd3000 is worth every cent! Only downside is that its ugly as hell to be honest… Im in a search of a mixer also, soo I will keep my eye on this…

I’m looking for a cheap 4 channel mixer as well soonish, just waiting to see what the new NI audio interfaces going to be like as I need a 4 channel soundcard as well…

It’s based on the DJX 750 by the looks of it which costs around 280$ in Switzerland and has better faders + USB…I hope its close in price becasue the other option from Behringer is the NOX 606 but I’m sure that will be more expensive
Only two things I dont like about it: the yellow/red colors (prefer green/red) and the fader for the master out, really annoying
