looks very nice not really aesthetically but it looks like it has some capabilities but for the price egh probobly better off buying an analogue mixer and some x1’s or 1d’s
Woouuu
I don’t really like the design (faderbox style)…the blue lighting buttons are missing compared to the prototype version… only small leds around the buttons…
but what a huge number of controls, it’s crazy !!! total control for each 4 channel with direct access…(4 fx controls…!!) and the unit seems to be very solid… 4 band Eq ?!
What a shame, I’d been waiting for news on this controller ever since the first Youtube clip appeared but now the details are out, it looks ridiculously overpriced compared to the S4. The control layout isn’t particularly “clever” in my opinion either - too many buttons and too busy, they seem to have just mapped every available Traktor control to a button/knob without thinking about ways to make better use of space or to do something a bit innovative - e.g. the S4’s loop length knob/display.
The S4 isn’t perfect by any means either, but it’s more interesting than this.
I’m still not totally sold on the idea of one huge integrated controller though - all well and good if you only use it in your studio, but once you start playing out in clubs, it’s going to be tricky unless something (e.g. the S4) becomes an industry standard (which I can’t imagine it will - it’s a bit too toy-like in the photos), most places I’ve played at have struggled to fit in a laptop and a BCR2000, never mind something 50x30cm. I’m still more interested in doing interesting things with smaller controllers and e.g. my (not spent enough time with it as a controller to figure out how big a loss the lack of tactile controls is, but I can think of some pretty interesting layouts, and as long as you have a proper mixer/MIDI controller for volume and EQ, I think it might be OK).
Oh yeah, and the styling looks horrid - always thought Faderfox stuff looked really ugly. Such a shame, I did think it might be the controller of my dreams!
Looks pretty cool, too, though the youtube video just shows the guy scratching with it rather than pushing any buttons. Big news is it was made in collaboration with Faderfox, so you know you’re getting quality parts and materials. I’ve never seen this much control over all four effects banks, and there’s even a 4-band EQ!
The bad news is the price – 1300 euros – that’s a shitload of American dollars – for a midi controller with no sound card. The other thing that would worry me about buying this is that it’s optimized for Traktor Pro 1.2.4 … so it’s likely to feel pretty dated in a few months when the Traktor update comes out. There’s no sampler buttons or controls, and the loop controls will probably feel obsolete when the new loop browser is available in Traktor. And a minor nitpick, the brushed aluminum look is cool but I preferred the black prototype. Still, it’s a pretty nice looking piece of kit and I would definitely get one if I were made of money…
FaderFox have ruined it!! Yeah it’s fair enough they sold the concept to a company to mass produce, but it didn’t have to get the same shitty styling. In fact FF could’ve used this to launch a new look.
I like the fact that it has a button for everything, but i can see that as also a huge weakness, not sure why as yet, but something feels wrong about it.
It might be because the buttons aren’t going to be a decent size for a few things, like cue juggles, you won’t be able to do that so easily on this.
I was a fan of the original design and i actually kind of like the way everything is in one box. One of these, 2 x 1200s and a Midi Fighter would be perfect for me i think but the price!!! What were they thinking…
I really thought this would be in the $500 price range but $1600 !!! come on its still just a 4 channel midi controller with buttons and led feedback but WITHOUT an audio interface. maybe with audio the price could be justified but without, it doesn’t stand a chance.
Wow that makes no sence to me, no audio on a big rig like that one.
It seems like its almost TOO much control over every little detail in traktor. They should have gave up some control over things you would probally never use and just create larger buttons for cue juggling etc.
