Ableton if you're not a producer

Ableton if you’re not a producer

This might be a really stupid question.

Is there any reason/way to use Ableton if you’re not a producer playing your own music? Is there a way to get and play other peoples files or is it pretty much only good for playing your own stuff?
I obviously don’t know much about the software but from what I can tell, the advantage of ableton is that you can trigger individual parts of a track for live remixing. But if you didn’t make the song, then you don’t have those individual parts broken down right?

you can warp full tracks/ cut them up into clips for live remixing

theres also another article on DJTT about linking traktor and live so you can run effects over the audio coming from traktor

there are alot of people who are using live to dj instead of Serato or Traktor.

youtube is your friend!

Yeah, it just seems like theres no reason if you’re just mixing 2 or 4 tracks to use ableton instead of traktor. I guess theres the advantage of better effects and VSTs(?) but I’d rather not be restricted by being locked to the beatgrid and would rather just use the software designed for mixing 2 or 4 tracks.

Hmmm. Just kinda curious. Thanks for the answer.

np man. live is legit tho. you can warp tracks to a certain bpm so tracks with live drummers you can mix into EDM sets and whatnot…make intros/re-edits of songs (like having the hook come in first so you can mix in teh hook then drop right into the song for example.)

i was having a blast earlier today running traktor through stutter edit… glitchy as fuck.

its a solid program to have / even if your not mixing or producing with it.
