Ableton to Traktor?

Ableton to Traktor?

My current process includes warping a track in ableton, exporting it as a wav file, importing the wav into itunes, then exporting it from there as a 320 Kbps MP3, then bringing it into traktor and beatgridding it.

Question: is there a way to cut out the whole exporting bit to wav / converting to mp3 part?

Does anyone use a workflow that takes tracks from ableton to traktor? what’s the best way to do this?

Thank you!

Loopscious

If HD space isn’t an issue for you i would cut out itunes from the process and leave the tracks as wavs.

Wavs?

But isn’t an issue that wav’s don’t retain the beatgrid, looping info, cues, etc? Saw a few people had issues losing their grid info because they were working with WAV files…

Traktor does save the info but not in the file itself in the case of wavs, but it does with mp3’s, it goes in the “stripes” folder.

Yeah no ID3, so that’d be a problem. I use Automater in Mac OS X and whenever it finds a wav that is not in use that has been exported to the desktop, my script runs my lame mp3 encoder through the terminal and converts it to 256 or 320 whichever I choose via terminal pause. atleast that removes the manual part, it renames it with the time and application that recorded it. dang I still have to put in a way to type the name during the conversion process so it saves it… I’m lazy with CLI at the moment. ANYWAY, hope that gives KIND of an idea…

Remember you only have to do this process with tracks with a varying tempo, tracks with a solid tempo do not need to be warped in Ableton beforehand. Infact warping a track with a solid tempo in Ableton shouldnt change any of the timing what so ever.
