Ableton users can you explain your workflow

Interesting, but i’m still wondering how similar is it to Traktor in storing information such as your different cuts in the track?

ok, i have 7 audio tracks after those i have 6 grouped midi tracks.
the audio tracks-- the first 3 are entire songs that i have split up in various ways. then i have a track for quantized samples/loops and one for acapellas. the last two are blank space holders (i use an apc 40 and i just needed some space to keep the bottom faders empty)

the midi tracks-- they are grouped together, the first two are empty place holders. the last four are 3 drum racks witch i use with my midi fighter. on the midifighter the top 4 buttons “arm” the drum rack that i want. those just have various samples ranging from vocal drops to drum hits. the very last one is just a midi track that sends midi to a VST on the master channel–effectrix (just got it a few days ago =D). that triggers different pattterns i have stored.

the effects—on the three audio tracks, each one has an EQ taken from tarekith’s pack. each one also has three different effects–the same thing is cloned across the other tracks. only the acapellas dont have fx.

just got back from a JFK show lol so sorry if this is sloppy ;D. let me know if you have questions.

i was going to suggest that with max4live that this may have been possible..

I wouldn’t say it’s similar to Traktor, but I would say it definitely stores my cuts.

Also when the first revised Pinky patch claimed you could scratch clips, I thought of it more like a file browser, not clips scratching, Ableton session view being the browser. Now the new Pinky patch seems to be storing my information i.e. cue points and loops just fine. Not sure if that can be transfered from a working live set to a “new” one, but I dont really work like that anyway. I usually have a current working live set and build upon it till I am tired of it and then start new. If I need any thing from the old one I copy it from Ableton’s browser.

And if Bento thinks he can make a better storing of cue points and loops, I cant wait to try it. To re-iterate, it’s an Exciting time to be an Ableton DJ, and even more so if you got M4L.
