So i sent this kid called dj frankis (kid that dj’s at school’s and 12 year old’s bdays) a email saying i challenge you to a minimal techno mix he responds with “how do you listen to that shitty music. sounds like a fucking jungle! how about no, just because its a shitty genre i wasnt too impresed with transitons tho” I really don’t understand this kid bashing one of the biggest genres in dance music and saying im shit when he can’t even keep two records in time (watch his youtube videos @dj frankis)
If someone randomly “challenged” me to a mix off in a genre I didn’t particularly like or know very well* I’d possibly say the same things. It doesn’t sound like he was dissing you too much, just the music which he doest like to begin with.
So why did you challenge him in the first place?.. and why choose minimal techno and not some middle ground between yours and his genres ?
*Dubstep
Maybe you should post this fantastic minimal mix on here so the people who know and appreciate the genre can judge ?
You may as well be asking a catholic priest what brand of condoms to buy otherwise
not trying to offend, but i find the whole thing childish? lol
really? challenging this guy? did he say something bad to u before u challenged him? or are you just hating on him because he is actually getting paid to dj at these kid events?
the kid has his opinion and he was bashing the genre you like. so what? you challenged him, he wasn´t impressed. he didn´t call you names or anything. i don´t really get what your point is?
Woah guys settle down on his youtube videos he said challenge me so i said can you do minimal techno mix with a link too mine then he starts bashing the genre
no need to do so if you can reasonably justify on how this could get constructive. there is to much bs on here in the last few months and a lot of negative energy and i can see that this one could go the same route. i´m not hating but trying to prevent.
As to this thread: I’ve got the feeling it’s gonna lead nowhere…
Someone was challenged but isn’t into the asked genre. Therefore he doesn’t like to take the challenge (tbh I wouldn’t do either) but instead of being polite he starts bashing the asked genre. So what? This boy’s attitude is far from desirable but in the end nobody gives a s*** on his opinion.
I don’t like minimal techno, and wouldn’t accept a challenge.
Ed this is how this post will benefit the community - more and more 12-15 year olds seem to be joining, and then demanding gigs or satisfaction or attention. This should be an eye opener for everyone to help make sure that this attitude in DJing stops. This is the same kind of attitude that leads to guys not getting off of the decks when they are supposed to, bashing on forums, arrogant PaulyDesqe mindsets and all around douchebaggery. (MYE, not necessarily talking about you, making a general observation)
Ive usually heard battles, challanges, sound clash, take place in the genre that the two djs specialize in. Scratch battles, both djs are scratch djs, sound clash usually two reggae djs ordubplates sound crews playing dubplates. It would really seem unfair to challange someone to something they dont spin. very uneven battle. Its kinda like having a cook off, but having all vegetarians judges, and only one person cooking tofu chilli we all know whos gonna win by default. but this is me speaking on the situation without knowing the true background of it all
