Akai LPD8 FX Instant Grat. Mapping

Akai LPD8 FX Instant Grat. Mapping

heyo guise,

so im working on an effects control only mapping for my lpd 8.

i have mapped:
PAD 5 - Group Effect 1 On/Off (For Effect Slot 3)
PAD 6 - Group Effect 2 On/Off (For Effect Slot 3)
PAD 7 - Group Effect 3 On/Off (For Effect Slot 3)
PAD 8 - Group Effect 1,2,3 On/Off (For Effect Slot 3)

PAD 1 - Group Effect 1 On/Off (For Effect Slot 4)
PAD 2 - Group Effect 2 On/Off (For Effect Slot 4)
PAD 3 - Group Effect 3 On/Off (For Effect Slot 4)
PAD 4 - Group Effect 1,2,3 On/Off (For Effect Slot 4)

Knobs:
K1 - Dry/Wet For Group Effect Slot 3
K2 - Effect 1 Amount
K3 - Effect 2 Amount
K4 - Effect 3 Amount

K5 - Dry/Wet For Group Effect Slot 4
K6 - Effect 1 Amount
K7 - Effect 2 Amount
K8 - Effect 3 Amount

So its kind of a simpler instant gratification mapping.. works wonders for me. works best with Beatmasher, Filter, Gator filling the effect slots.

Edit: Forgot to mention, All buttons are toggle, except PAD 8 and PAD 4. they are hold buttons.

Edit 2: next i will be working on using the second preset as an effect selecter, changing the effects for 3 and 4. t

yeah I’m interested

awesome ill get on that then lol.

You think you could attach the tsi and the lpd8 preset meanwhile so that I could play around with it a bit please

there you go guys, tsi and preset are in the OP. the preset is for only the first channel or program or whatever, so you still have the other three available presets slots to play with. also, the midi notes for the preset are extremely high, like.. D#7 and such. this is because my vestax typhoon takes up like… C0 all the way to A5. so i had to map the preset so it wouldnt interfere with my typhoon.

cheers! will mess around with it for sure

cool … i literally busted out the lpd8 last night as i wanted to create a mapping to complient my dvs setup.

Not sure this will be for me as i want loop and loop move etc incorporated but i will def have a play.

Cheers!
Gav

hi. You convinced my to buy the lpd8, instead of the nanopad (See this thread)
Thanks a lot

hmmm, ive had no luck getting it to work. the notes referred to in the traktor mapping don’t seem to be the ones the LPD editor sets when loading the preset.

interesting. ill make another preset that isnt as high in the midi notes and include it in a a new zip. theres other questions too though, like make sure your note display type is at (C#3).
also, might wanna unplug and plug back in your lpd8 before doing this. otherwise it wont truly connect with the device.

i actually had the nanopad before i got this and can honestly say it sucked in my opinion, it was a bitch to map, and the touch pad had to be stabbed to death by my finger to work properly.

The note display is set correctly and the LPD definitely connects as after pressing upload it gives me the “uploaded successfully” message. Although I have to say, from past experience the LPD8 Editor isn’t the most reliable of programs.

yeah it isnt  tonight ill get that other preset uploaded.

I have an LPD8 as well and I love it. its very useful and versatile controller.the preset program on the LPD8 on start up is at “Program 4” so when you map yours make sure your program is set to 4 so you dont have to have any start up rituals and it could be a plug in n play kind of deal.

I mapped my own LPD8 so it helps me with effects, filter, pitch, as well as sifting through my library since I dont have CDJ’s for now :stuck_out_tongue: gonna be ordering ndx 800’s next week so excited.

I got a LPD8 today and tried to get this preset working with no success. Some of you mentioned that it is a problem with the notes or something ?
I’m doing my best to learn as much as possible about how to map controllers in Traktor but I don’t really know how to make this work.
A new preset would be cool!

[/quote]You need to use the LPD Controller editor to upload Ranzerox’s MIDI note preset & then once you’ve imported the TSI, ensure you set the In-Port and Out-Port.

Thanks a million Ranzerox, this totally gave me a starting point. I’m currently running 2 copies - one for deck A with FX units 1 & 3, one for deck B with FX units 2 & 4. Just trying to figure out my favourite combos at the moment!

One thing though, I may well re-program the TSI a bit more to use different channels as it’s interfering with my Mixtrack’s mappings (more or less default, with a few minor changes to the Hotcues, etc). If I’m going to upload it, anybody got a preference for which channels NOT to use - I generally avoid 1, 9, 10 & 16 for historical MIDI setup reasons!

any way you could customize it to like the ean golden midid fighter “beat-masher build up” like ean golden does in this video with the midi fighter!

Would be sick if you could build a tsi to function like this on the lpd8

Should be straight-forward enough, I’ve currently got 2 banks free.

Will need to have a look at my Mixtrack mapping first though & see if I’ve got any modifiers free - so I can whack in that super-combo move too! I’m pretty sure that the 8 modifiers number is global rather than per interface, so again wouldn’t want to screw up any existing settings. I don’t have anything planned on Sunday, so I’ll report back then…

This config is great so far! only problem I have is that when i switch to deck C or D on my Kontrol S4, the knobs for FX unit 1 and 2 begin to control FX units 3 and 4. I’d like for my Kontrol s4’s fx knobs to control FX 1 and 2 only, even when switching to my Sample Decks (letting the lpd8 control fx’s 3 and 4). Any Solutions for this?

jesus guys i didnt even know this was still going  haha. ill work on an update, ill make it a little more friendly, maybe add somethings if youd like. also ill work on using modifiers to do the beat mashing thing. you guys are def. free to do anything you want with it but be kind enough to post it in this thread so i can have a look. curiousity of course. also, i have the signals set for as low of the note i can make them since all my controllers use high signals.

@kayshot: it may be because the midi signals are getting crossed but im not sure i dont own an S4 to tell you for sure.
