Akai Pad Label

I want to use a marker (like a magic marker or a sharpie) to permanently label the pads on my Akai LPD-8. A regular sharpie just scrapes off after repeated use. Has anyone written on an Akai pad with any success? I assume that the MPC or MPD or LPD pads are all made of the same material, so if you’ve labeled an Akai pad, please let me know how you did it! Thanks.

Better off printing labels and sticking them on the unit, not on the actual pads.
