Alto powered speakers

Alto powered speakers

Looking to see if anyone has used these ordered some to have for events where if something gets damaged its not too big of a hit on the wallet..

I actually used them over July 4th weekend…not bad at all for small gigs IMO and I’m very picky about sound.

Good to know I have 2 12s on order the 800watt ones I believe and am half tempted to gets pair of 15s also but as dont have then here yet to e confident was looking for options on sound quality. I rather enjoy powered speakers over in powered for mobile stuff wonder how their subs sound

I’ve had the 12"s for over a year and even after being rained on and rolled around in the bed of a truck on several occasions, they still look and work excellent. Probably the most durable out there. Combined with a minidsp and 18" subs, I have the best sounding mobile rig in the area (that I’ve heard).

Good to know thanks for information

I wasn’t impressed by their subs. Instead I opted for some unpowered harbingers since I had a few matching amps lying around.

Another great feature is that they are designed to be stacked and bolted together and ran in a daisy chain configuration. A few guys in my dj group also have the 12"s and when we do large venues, we’ll stack them to the ceiling or lay a few on the floor for use as monitors.

Nice wonder if the twelves will stack onto the 15s although I want 2 of each to do more spaced out 2 at 25ft and 2 at 50ft

It would probably sound better if you stayed with one size. Multiple speakers will create a flatter sound and possibly even hit lower. The Altos do ok with most bass heavy music, but I would invest in subs before getting a second set. If you cross them over at 80hz you can get a much louder cleaner sound out of them before clipping and you may find that two are plenty. So my advice would be to invest subs and an active crossover.

Yeah here’s how it’s played out originally ordered 2 12s from a supplier we use at work… Been on order for over a month since its coming direc from manufacture I found a relatively local shop that has the 15s in stock. My thoughts were wait and see and maybe keep all 4 but likely will just get the 2 15s.

http://www.axemusic.com/store/product/2499/Rolls-Tiny-2-way-Crossover/ something similar to this coupled with a sub is what your suggesting instead of keeping the 2 12s?

This all day http://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-balanced-2x4

Wait for the 12"s. They are a better combo with 18" subs.

Will see how it shakes

I got 1 15 inch speaker and it’s good for small gigs. Been using it in house parties, basements, garages, and it shakes the room. Have had it for almost a year now. Get one, and imagine if you had 2 of them.

Due to stock issues on the 12s I had to get the 15s I should have them tomorrow so kind of excited the reviews I did find went on about the sound quality and even the place I had to get from said their sound quality is above what most are in that sort of price range… Compared o behringers. I am hoping I can run straight out my ns6 with them and have no issues.

Now on to get some lighting don’t know why I am creating another hobby for myself besides to fund my rgas

For smaller gigs I just run the audio strait from my xlr outs on my mixer to the speakers and turn on the contour switch to add a little bottom end. I set the volume on the speaker to about the 1 o’clock position and the speakers will clip a bit before the signal from my mixer will. These speakers have a high input sensitivity, and they actually don’t like input signals much higher than 1v or so.

Ok so got these hooked right into ns6 sounds good now one thing is I did not crank them… As in volume on them less then quarter on and master out on ns6 not even quarter and they are loud really loud so my question is break in how long did you run yours low before letting them go to town?

Check out the new EV ZLX15A. I sell Alto and I’d say they have a higher than 30% failure rate in the first 60 days. The EV’s are just touch more in price, but you’re getting a reputation and a name that’s been in this industry for 50+ years. Their 15" Market Advertised Price is $499. Hit me up if you’d like to save a few bucks!

Had bad experience with ev sound quality. That Said read opening post wanted something cheaper side of things and sound quality not shabby.
If I wanted to burn more money I would of went with a passive setup instead of active. Thanks for the offer though may look into them see what I can find never know may have to grab some another time

On to the topic of failure rates in electronics.. I guess could say it is all subjective. Especially with active speakers due to the abuse likely given to them.. Proper care cures a good percentage of electronic failure. This is why people that are attentive to proper care usually have electronics that last longer.

So I can say that 18s would be too much for a house party there is no way without running through a parametric eq would I dare run them loud in a small environment to the point were I can hardly even touch their power in my house even on the driver alone with just bass
