I’m a 19 year old dubstep/dnb dj and producer from germany.
I’m looking for a midi-controller for digital djing with an audio-interface.
So long I’ve looked at:
Hercules RMX
Reloop Digital Jockey 2 Interface Edt.
Numark Omni Control
Vestax Typhoon
And I want to spend a maximum of about ~300$US (~250€ tops!)
I fell for the Typhoon yesterday, but felt like getting stabbed in the heart after seeing the note on the vestax page saying it doesn’t support AMD CPUs (and I have an AMD64…)
What’s up with that? Does my dream of the Typhoon end, or does anyone use it with an AMD CPU?
If so, I might have to jump back and decide to buy a Hercules or Reloop controller
You may want to check this thread as this thing looks promising… no sound card but if it’s as cheap as it says then you can afford to get one as well which may help if you upgrade in the future.
sigh …another controller, does this ever end?
I feel like I can’t ever decide with more controllers popping up weekly
/e:
that would also mean i must look for a USB Audiointerface and read into that, or does any1 have tips for that?
I really don’t know what to look out for when buying usb audiointerfaces
xone 2D is the way i would go if i were you, has a very high quality sound card and allows you to start of internal mixing if you can afford a mixer but when you can afford one you can send upto 4 channels to it from the xone, the xone could work as a 4 deck conrroller if you needed aswell, its a pretty solid piece of equip
IMO spring for the 2D if you can and expand to another 1D and possibly external mixer later. It’ll feel really awkward at first, especially if you’re doing internal mixing, but it’ll be well worth it if/when you decide to expand.
Otherwise, I’ll always vote for the Hercules RMX. It’s the controller I got when I started DJing, and it’s a really solid piece of equipment.
Honestly for 300 bucks you could wait bide your time and get a great deal keep an eye on the forums here and look out for a VCI-100 I’ve seen em go for as low as 300$ it’s not all the time but it does happen and everyone will tell you here it is as solid a piece of equipment as your going to get. I learned the hard way to not buy the cheaper gear and settle for something. I ended up spending double to replace the first thing to get something I really wanted. just my 2 cents
I kind of want to also tell you to bide your time and try to spring for a VCI-100 and a nice sound card like the Audio 2 DJ. It really /could/ be worth it in the long run, since Ean’s always coming out with more and more refined mappings for it, and those would be helluh cool to try out. Or if you’re really ambitious, get a Arcade Modded one. (Or also get a midiFighter)
But if you’re absolutely not going to get that kind of money soon enough to wait: as far as internal soundcard models go, I really cannot recommend the RMX more. (Not in that price range, anyway. Love my Xone 3D)
