Any differences between using digital and analog ins/outs?

I know this question is loaded, but I was wondering what large advantages there are between using traditional RCAanalog inputs vs digital ins and outs via S/PDIF cables? I understand the digital signal is hardly touched with the latter but is it THAT much better? A lot of people still use analog even when connecting CDJs as far as I can tell.

Anyhow, this is just a small (possible) factor in a future mixer upgrade.

Thanks!

S/PDIF? I’ve came across it a few times, never really needed it. That’s not to say theere aren’t uses for it, but for me, it’s never been a factor in a buying decision…

S/PDIF will carry a cleaner signal over long distances and are capable of carrying 5.1 over a single cable. Using it to connect a CDJ to a mixer is a bit overkill if you ask me.

So it sounds like a digital output may be more beneficial than actual digital inputs.

Yup, balanced cables still do the trick for most scenarios tho, unless you are setting up something really big.
