Anyone else into 'Whomp'? I love eet :D

Anyone else into ‘Whomp’? I love eet

Check this set:

dunno if it deserves its own genre name but “Whomp” is what it’s called apparently… anyone else digging it?

Odd tracks on there are definitely more in the Ghetto Funk tip …

I thought this was going to be like Donk.

Hmm a sludge sounding breakbeat, sounds like time to make a new micro genre up…really same sounding, nothing to see here

fair play - be a boring world if we all liked and hated the same things

me, I absolutely love it - perfect combination of party vibes, beats and basslines

I wasn’t saying that it’s total shit or anything, just seems very “heard it all before” know what I mean

as long as we dont encourage another sub-sub-…-sub-genre name. there’s enough improperly defined, so unheard-of-to-basically-be-rendered-useless sub-genres names floating around the web, we don’t need another. unless they call it 'Whomp!" with an exclamation point always.. I like it.

Call it whatever you want, I’m feelin this.

yea i like opiuo.

You heard his Ray! / Good Thymes remix - dancefloor catnip I swear …

yup, it’s a gooder.

the new ep, squiggle - also pretty dope.

Will have a butchers, ta.

oh you havnt heard it. you’ll like it i think! :sunglasses:

If the rest of that mix is anywhere near as good as the first track, then yeah I fucking love it.

Old post but SHEEEET i love this stuff!! slower than breaks and faster than dubstep and dirtier than the two in a council flat kitchen!!! yes yes yes!

Yeah, I really liked a couple of his tracks but he seems to be a bit of a one trick pony atm, lots of derivative releases using the same soundsets. Man can clearly produce though.

felt the same after the new ep. gave it a few more listens and there are subtle differences to the production, but like you said it is more of the same… i would like to hear him shift gears a bit more for the next project of his though.

i imagine it’s tough getting good enough to have a unique and sought after sound then trying to follow that up after it’s not new.

loving this mix! Sounding awesome out of my freshly redoubled speaker array

hell yah, feeling this stuff fasho..

It would be nice to have a genre name for it apart from “funkadelic hippo hop wobble dub tech”.
