anyone else tired of the "find me music" threads?

anyone else tired of the “find me music” threads?

I am just about tired of people asking the forum to find music for them…or better yet “make me a playlist”…

I might get banned soon…

I’m starting to get into techno. Stuff like David Gueta and Afrojack and like that. Can you tell me more techno like that. I especially like the techno that goes wub wub wub and makes my belly tickle.

Yeh, there are those that are kinda, check out this track, i dig it and it follows on from there, which is cool cause its coming from the op’s passion and not expecting anything in return, then there is the ones as you metioned above, its the tone of it that turns me off, as most of us dj’s take pride in our tracks and how we cultivate them. But hey, we can always not reply.

this. :relieved:

Have patience young padawan. They’ll soon loose interest and we’ll be back to max two new pages a day of posts.

Has this site gone through the cycle prior this flux of ‘interest’ ? I figure I joined right before it really got ‘out of hand’, cause there used to be a lot more interesting topics in general.

what’s a padawan?

HERE

i vaguely knew what it was…i never watched any of the new star wars movie…FTB’s…merely a joke sir…

We should definitely have more threads titled ‘I’m getting so deep into a genre, no one will ever recognize this music. I need help.’

I can’t be the only one :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont see any difference in asking people on here to recommend them any music as asking the guy behind the counter in a record shop. Its a music forum. People are going to ask for recommendations. With all the new tech out there its a sad but true fact that anyone can download the top 10 beatport genre of flavour and beatmatch 2 songs together. Your going to get people doing this now. TBH im not bothered.

Some DJs seem to think that there are only cool or proper djs if they spend hours searching through obscure shops or on youtube. Thats total bullshit. There are loads of ways to find new music. What annoys me are the people on here who get uptight about it.

can i get an amen for this guy!

Yeah there’s plenty of threads where we share music we like - but it’s when someone comes on asking for a playlist for a ‘gig’ they have in a weeks time thats annoying…

Turning people on to music is the core reason I even started doing this 24 years ago. Sure the lazy people get on my nerves sometimes, but I even have an urge to help them when I can.

i can understand all this but with the worldwideinternwebnet and sites like last.fm and spotify and soundcloud alot of these request are kinda redundant arent they? if some one said “hey i like mos def” id say “hey so do i check out last.fm or soundcloud and see what else pops up” isnt that basically helpin em out with out directly tellin em who they should listen to?

i think the reason we get alot of these request cos as dj’s were expected to know every afroguettamafiaex type track and yeah sum people wanna be well snobby and try to out do their mates… kinda like track spotting but on a shittier punter level

+1

BTW, I can’t help but ask if this was triggered by my recent post about the M Machine. They’re just unique, and I haven’t been able to find an artist that sounds like them. Same with Pretty Lights.

BFLY - with your recent name calling and general douchey attitude your words have very little meaning to me. Didn’t your asking for deep house thread turn into a fuster cluck? of course you aren’t bothered by the posts, because you are part of them. You are right, anyone can download any top ten and sound like any other mook DJ. Therein lies the problem. Put the time in and find music that you like. Not some obscure record shop or youtube. Just beatport. I’m sorry you can’t pick up your tunes at a McDonalds drive thru. PUT THE GODDAMN WORK IN.

I personally don’t use this site to find music but I see where you’re both coming from. I don’t think BFLY was being particularly douchey though. If you use this site to share music with likeminded people (rather than outright ask for it) then I don’t see how that’s putting in any less effort than looking through that particular Beatport genre or the like finding stuff that interests you. On the one hand I see how DJ’s can take pride in their song choices and wouldn’t necessarily want to hand them over so easily.

Asking for a playlist is pretty daft and I personally think that takes most of the fun out of what you’re doing.

go read some of his other posts…

Im really interested in knowing how you find your music? Maybe you hike for months to the lost city of gold, just to find a cd full of music.

Hi my names Keithace, Im such a cool and amazing DJ because I spend hours looking for obscure music in weird and wonderful places. I once pulled out a usb stick full of Speedtechnobasshouse out of my arse. Im so cool. One time at bandcamp, I stamped upon a rabbit and out of its anus came a tape with a long lost copy of MC hammers remixed you cant touch this.

This one time I found a perfect copy of MJ’s beat it as I was beating it! It came out of my penis.

Stop being a snob. If you dont want people asking for music ideas on an internet forum, Leave.
