Anyone using Native Instruments Audio 8 DJ with MacOS anymore?
I’ve run into some strange audio dropouts with the A8DJ that I’ve owned for years. I see they are no longer supported with MacOS (I’m on Sierra). It seems to fix the problems if I set the resolution of the soundcard to 96k instead of 44.1, but then when I disconnect the A8DJ I get issues with sound output on other devices (unless I reconnect the card and switch the resolution back to 44.1). Does anyone else have this problem?
Is my only option to upgrade to the A6 or A10, or is there a way to keep using the A8 reliably? I think 96k switch fixes the dropouts but I don’t know if I want to rely on this soundcard anymore given that possibility. And I’m not leaning toward buying another NI soundcard; who’s to say how long the A10 will be good for?
Have been using my audio8 on the latest Mac OS X w/ Ableton ok for the most part. Will crash from time to time. Definitely OK for production, but wouldn’t take it out to a gig just yet…
I still use my Audio8DJ on my Mac (updated to latest OS). Although I don’t have any issues, I am in the market to replace it. There seems to be a lot of newer soundcards on the market that can do better than the Audio8DJ and have better sound/latency. The cost may be higher, but I would pay that for better quality (eg RME).
That’s my sense too, though I just bought a studio sound card and am reluctant to drop bank on another (and my studio card isn’t really portable). What cards are you considering?
