Anyone with experience with MIDI keyboards

I’ve been using a standalone synth for a while now, and since I’m trying to not live in the stone-age and get more into the whole MIDI thing (I bought a Nano Pad two weeks ago), I think it’s time I bought a MIDI keyboard.

Now I understand this is more of a forum for DJ’s, but there’s gotta be people here who have some experience with this. I’m trying to spend under $300… any suggestions?

I love the M-Audio Axiom 49.

Yea, Axioms are nice, I have an Axiom25.

Yeah I’ve heard a lot of good things about that. I’m just paranoid about support for Vista I guess… Any ideas?

lol, the axiom 49 works fine in vista. i’m a 100% vista 64 user.

Reaaaalllly!!! That’s sick. How responsive are the pads? Keys feel good?

the pads are like every other m-audio pad. pretty solid, sometimes feel a little squishy, sometimes feel a little too stiff. just depends on your technique.

and the keys are AMAZING. perfect semi-weighted. love em.

Thats cool I’ll probably go pick up the Axiom 25 this weekend… no need for 49 keys.

But just out of curiosity do you have any idea why M-Audio’s Oxygen line of controllers are so much cheaper? Because they don’t have pads?

No pads, no semi-weighted keys, and lower build quality.

however if you’re just looking for something easy and simple?

I’d probably recommend the oxy8. especially if you’re just messing around. If you’re looking for a NICE keyboard, get the 49key.

I live on my Remote 25SL. I love it, and swear by it.

i guess it depends on what you’re doing.

I think the Axiom is a better all around keyboard, especially for the producer or keyboardest. (I’m gonna get a 61 coming up here soon) but the remotes are really solid controllerism boards.

one should also note that the axiom49 = $250 and the remote 49SL= $500

I know. But there are so many… buttons… and knobs… mmm… drools

the axiom 49 has plenty of faders, knobs, and pads.

Not gonna argue.

The only thing is that the Remote 49 key I wouldn’t recommend. The Remote 37, though is where it’s at for me. Or the 61 key, but that is pricey. shrug

Personally I like the joystick and the touchpad. Lends itself very well toward what we need for more advanced controllerism, if that’s what you’re going for shrug

I like to pretend that I’m a producer .

I probably will go with the Axiom 25, just because I like the knobs. No but really the knobs are a definite plus. I’m still trying to figure out midi, so all the knobs and pads add to the learning (yay for education ). Plus the semi-weighted keys don’t hurt either.

I’m running out of stuff to buy. Lol.

hahahahahahahahahaha

Yeah, that’ll change real fast.

I would not change my axiom 25 for nothing.
