ASPIRING PRODUCERS: Here’s some help

What’s up guys?

Haven’t been on in forever, but I wanted to share this with the community.

It was through this forum that I met some really helpful people and learned a lot of the base of my production skills. I’m far from being a master, but who isn’t at 15? One of the biggest issues for me in learning was finding the right material to read and watch. Just because something had “simple” in it hardly ever meant so, and I found myself not understanding my software and just using it in a rather incomprehensible way.

After having support of my music by Nicky Romero, Thomas Newson, New World Sound, and having multiple top 5 singles on Hype Machine (my music here: Stream steve james music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud), I wanted to find a way to give back and help some of the people who as me for feedback. What I’m doing I’m calling Producer Tip Tuesdays - where I’m blogging on my site some of the articles, tutorials, and discussions I’ve had that have been most impactful on my career.

I kicked off the blog today with a write up that’s hoping to clarify basic subtractive synthesis - explained in a great article by Resident Advisor. You can check it out here: http://stevejamesofficial.com/ptt-subtractive-synthesis/

If you have questions, comments, or concerns, I’d love if you left them in the comments on my site or on my facebook page here: Facebook. I am a very genuine person, and promise if I can help you, I absolutely will - which I know is VERY valuable to people who are learning the craft.

Though I write progressive and electro house, and progressive trance, the tips I’ll be offering will be usable for literally ANY style. I’ve experimented with glitch-hop, electronica, trance, and even done some work with movie soundtracks and backing tracks. What I plan to share will definitely be usable in any style you’re into…

So check it out and let me know what you think! Mention DJTT in a comment on my site/facebook and I’ll get back to you EXTRA quick
