audacity and panning question

hey all, just ran into a bit of an issue.

I was trying to record a routine today and for some reason audacity was not picking up panning (from traktor). the audio is set to stereo, and the soundcard that audacity is recording with is outputting panned audio into the monitors so I’m a bit puzzled as to why audacity isn’t recording the audio as panned

just realized something, audacity is treating my soundcard as a mic in (however it is connected via usb to the comp) and therefore its only receiving audio in mono. any one know how can get it to recognize it as a soundcard? :S
