Audio 2 DJ Latency Settings?

Audio 2 DJ Latency Settings?

so i went and bough one of those Audio 2 DJ cards… bit confused over what latency is? I have these settings to choose from:

  • minimal latency low (low cpu usage situation)
  • low latency (medium cup usuage sitation)
  • standard latency (high cpu usuage sitation)
  • medium latency
  • high latency
  • multimedia/games
  • user defined

I’m running traktor pro, an upgraded firmware for my vci 100 (courtesy of djtechtools) and a laptop that is purely for my music! Its a intel duo core 2 with 3 gig of ram… so there’s plenty of juice in it…

thanks for your help

normaly the situation is being resolved like this.

Set your ASIO panel to lowest latency available (first on the list - minimal latency), start your TPRO, bring 4 decks, load song to each deck, play all. Engage key lock, engage effects (full chained), by now If u are mortal man and have such a computer you should expereience clear cracks and distortion in the master out sound. Then change your ASIO setting to second level (medium), try all of the above until you find settings that leaves you with no cracks and distortion or drop-outs in the sound.

Head over to the manual to learn about what “user defined” means and how to operate it If you wanna make everything manualy.

oh … i thought they were not supposed to be out before september!

mine arrived this week!

kupujte - will give this a try, much thanks bro!

I’m trying this out also. I find it that when I load a track that it takes some time to load the info for the track. Plus, when either deck is playing everything freezes for the time it takes to load the track info.

In case anyone is wondering I’m running an AMD Turion 64 with 2gigs of ram, WinXP on a Compaq Persario model laptop.

Any ideas?

First, what is your latency set at?

Second, is it analyzing the track on load?

First, what is your latency set at? Latency is 7.5ms

Second, is it analyzing the track on load? No, I disabled that.

have you tried playing with the latency? I’m sure you won’t notice any difference if it was at 12ms but it could free up some resources.

Are your tracks all analyzed before you load them, then?

I’ve played with the latency and it seems to help at the medium setting.

I’ve read thru the manual to see about the scanning of the tracks, it really doesn’t give much detail. All my tracks are on an external hdd.

I added the folders in the preferences and I’m currently waiting for Traktor to finish scanning all 39k+ of tracks. If you got a step-by-step on the correctly way on how to analyze the tracks let me know.

39K tracks is gonna take 3 weeks to analyse man!

See, the issue is that if you haven’t already analyzed and run through the tracks Traktor isn’t going to recognize the wav forms and so instead it will scan them when you load them.

I’d have recommended doing the analysis in stages instead of all at once. You’re going to have to leave Traktor running for around 3 or 4 days to get all of those tracks analyzed. Took a day and a half for 15k I was running.

Yea, I know. It’s only on the “I’s” in my industrial folder.

Are there any 3rd party software that can do the same thing that will work with Traktor?

Not as far as I know. I mean, once you do it you’ll never need to do it again. Though, just back up your collection to avoid needing to reimport it.

Yea, till I add another 200megs of music to the drive. I’m looking at using MixMeister to analyze the BPM and write them to the tags.
