Audio4 good for producing ?
Guys just wondering would i be able to use the audio4 as my producing soundcard ?
yeah, although limiting depending on how much outboard gear you have
Ok wel what i’m doing is …
Running Ableton & Reason on my laptop into my soundcard into a 6 channel mixing desk with the outboard on it running into my speakers.
I also have a uc 33-e plugged in via usb.
A soundcard is a soundcard. Audio comes out of it, so yes, you can use it for producing…
I know i can use it … But would it be worth buying ?
I use a numark dj i/o at the minute.
Is it worth buying ?
Because i’m thinking of buying new KRK monitors aswel.
Quality-wise it’s a good choice. If it has enough in-/outputs for your needs, go for it…
If you’re doing anything other than monitoring off of it, that’s not true. If it’s in the signal chain, it alters the sound. Maybe that’s good…maybe not.
I wouldn’t use it, but I have a hangup about sound cards that require drivers.
But, I also use OS X and have had bad luck with the cards I’ve tried that do use drivers…although it’s equivalent to say that I’ve had problems with Avid/Digidesign interfaces.
If you’re using outboard gear or recording anything…if the sound card is integral to your signal chain…and you’re on OS X, I’d start by trying Apogee if I was rich and probably Presonus if I wasn’t. But I might be the only person that has such hangups about only wanting CoreAudio instead of proprietary drivers.
It’s because my mBox2 and every MAudio card I’ve ever seen touched me inappropriately as a child.
Cool thanx
I’m buying a seperate midi interface aswel for when i eventually buy some analog gear.
Thanx guys ![]()
Audio Kontrol 1? I have… me likey ![]()
AK-1 is awesome!
But for me the Audio4DJ is more than enough for production. ![]()
I’ve been up in the air about getting an Audio Kontrol 1. I going to wait until after the holidays to make my final decision. But i really can’t think of a reason not to get it.
Can it be used for dj’ing ? Audio Kontrol 1 that is
Yup, that’s what i use for DJing and Production.
It’s got balanced 1/4" jack outputs going to my active monitors and then when I want to dj in club with it, I just use these
I love it and can’t see a reason to change… it’s also got midi in/out… though i never use em
The Audio 4 has neither a Mic input nor any Midi ports.
Its not aimed at Production use at all.
If your saying that you have an Audio 4 and your asking if its good enough as a soundcard then the answer is yes. Its sounds great. Its just not as feature packed as an AK1 or A8.
Probably not intended for production use, but if your tracks remain in the digital domain, and all you need is monitoring, I’d say the Native Instruments interfaces are well suited.
I’ve decided to go with the Audio Kontrol 1, For some reason i thought it was something for guitars before hand, I never looked into it really, But now that i have i plan to buy it.
Amen, though if you’re keeping production simple, keeping things internal of your DAW with one or two USB MIDI attached sources, you should be save enough.
Good choice!
The Audio 4 DJ is a LOUD and Punchy sort of sound. Good for DJing.
Has quality converters so whether you play club or outdoor festival..or bedroom. It sounds fucking KILLER.
Production Cards are more for even sound. something that is flat without much tweaking on it. You need to be hearing the REAL sound. Not coloured in anyway.
Its the same type of difference for Speakers and Monitors. Monitors sound has a flat response. Where speakers should be loud and punchy…depending on the type.
