I’m sure some of you have encountered this before. I import and buy all of my music on my desktop but use my laptop for DJing. What is the best way to transfer the music from my desktop to my laptop while keeping the songs organized by playlist? I hope to be able to use my existing smart playlists on iTunes as crates on Serato on my laptop without much hassle.

So this is something I do a lot. For a while I was having my smart playlists read things I had included in a comment field, such as “leftfield / house” for weird housey tunes. Then in Serato, you could make a smart crate that looks for that phrase in the comments.
Or a simpler idea would be to move the playlists from iTunes into a specific folder on a USB drive, that way you know where everything belongs. They’re both a bit more time consuming, but nothing good ever came easy
