Blank cd help

Having real trouble burning my mioxtapes onto cd’s. Its am hour long mixtape and im burning them onto so say 80 min 700mb black cd-r. But its only burning 25 mintues of the mixtape onto the cd?

Im using Maxell cd’s and its my second batch of slightly different maxel cd’s and their doing the exact same?

Im using ITunes btw

Please help

In fact when I put the burnt cd with the mixtape on into another cd player its saying its a hour long, but can only hear first 25 minutes of it, the rest blank.

ARe you burning as audio CD or the WAV directly?

Does the CD show as full on your computer? 700mb?

It is yeah well its like 500mb the mixtape, but tis saying its an hour long which it should be but only playing 25 mins.

And im burning as an audio cd, is this right?

Yeah. Could the burn be failing? Try doing it at a slower speed.

Im already doing it at 16x lowest I think is 6?

Take a pic of the 2 disks side by side to view any markings on the cd. Personally I use DVD’s for anything I burn but thats just me.

ditch the itunes, try a dedicated cd/dvd burning software.

Sage like advice. Ditch iTunes for burning, burn your mix to a CD using a dedicated burning program, also split your mix into tracks for the convenience of the listener.

+1 to all the advice so far

Burn as slow as the computer will allow.
Maxell is reasonable media, so no issues there.
Ditch iTunes. Even the free “media burner” is a step up.

Depending on the software, you might be able to make an “ISO” image and burn that to the CD.

Amy clipping on the recording could muck up the burn…

I will add that splitting your tracks in say, Audacity, gives you an opportunity to analyze the sound wave for clipping or silence.

Once did a mix that cut off part of the way through and didn’t notice until I loaded into an editor.

Nothing worse than recording an unbelievable session only to find you recorded the completely wrong thing! It’s like your wife giving birth to fresh air after 9 months.

I use an external controller that will record a “safety track” at -10dB…for just such occasions.

Or if you don’t want to split manually just make a cue file and create a audio ISO this will also make easier for burning or just create the cue file for the wav file may need google I’m not tupingm an how to on it
