Hey, it is not that I am lazy, but some things must have best options. And I did found some books about mastering, music production, (mixing?)… there is loads of them, same as reviews about them. This is where I stopped and feeling like making this thread becouse I like to make best choices and ‘digest’ any experience that I get from others with good outcome.
Found this book: Amazon.com but reviews are not that great. I am looking for good books like this one and maybe this is a good one, but I am just the begginer, recently bought a controller and I want to learn things about music production or music mastering dont know how to call this one. (I have been using fl studio for some years, but havent mastered it the way I wanted, probably I was lacking of interest.)
Anyways what are good reads about mixing, mastering, production etc. nowdays that we can find and spent our time on it? Thanks.
I had a friend print my Ableton pdf User Manuals into nice binder style books. I still have them right next to my toilet. And I grab them when I’m on road trips. I did the same for a great article regarding mastering: http://izotope.fileburst.com/guides/Mastering_With_Ozone.pdf
And anything else useful.
Print this:
And KEEP ANNOYING people with your questions .. but only after you’ve researched the issue you run into .. there will be MANY (issues and questions). People also have the right to not like your early work that you will rightfully be proud of. JUST KEEP GRINDING. That’ all you have to do, really.
Mastering Audio is a GREAT book, at least for one perspective of how to do things. If nothing else it does a good job of covering some of the fundamentals of digital audio.
I’ve got some free production guides here as well, covering everything from mastering to playing live:
Tarekith. You are kind of like a legend to me, bro. I don’t know if you remember a kid back in the day that produced under the alias “Astral Prizm” … I performed very well in the “down tempo” and “trip hop” sections of Mp3.com. A guy name “bassic” was the man on Mp3.com back then. Long shot for you to remember me. But I have always absorbed your guides, that I found on a handful of sites around the web. I don’t think I ever reached out. BUT. Thanks a lot, brother. For atleast 10+ years (I believe) … You’ve kept it classy and provided EXTREMELY helpful intel for producers! I truly owe you .. at the very least .. a BIG THANKS!
The EQ guide is amazing, thanks for this one!! Just now got the time to spend on it. It is great, that there is more of free stuff around here. I will read these guides that you guys provided here. What about more books that are related to music production? I am planning to study music technology at my local college (newcastel-under-lyme) and I would love to come there with some knowledge.
