Buying first Turntable
Im thinking about buying my first record turntable, but can’y decide on which one i should buy.
I would like to use to learn how to scatch some, so i dont want too cheap of one, but i dont want to buy something too mice i might end up selling.
I was thinking about the stanton t.150, or another stanton turntable. does anyone have any expierence with these? if so are they good/bad???

pony up and buy a used technics 1200…
i woooooould, but reviews i’ve seen say that the Stanton t.150’s are like as good as technics but cheaper…
i got my two 1200s for 4 hundo with flight cases…years ago though…
Yeah not i could get one for that price… ugh. o well. I was planning on buying from Best buy anyway because thats where im telling people to get me gift cards for Christmas haha

a friend an me have had the technics vs. stanton debate for a long time, i was always pro Technics, but ended by chance with a Stanton t.120 and loved it! so had to get a second, theyve got obscene amounts of torque! (slightly higher than most of the technics range) and ive put it through road use and theiri still just as stable and reliable as when i bought them,
but in terms of resale, id say their much of a muchness,
If you’re worried about resale, get a used technics. I didn’t lose any money on my m5g. I lost a bit on my mk2s, but they were also damaged while I owned them and needed a bit of love. Neither I nor my buyer felt bad after the deal: he didn’t mind doing the work, and I didn’t mind paying what I lost to have those tables for 5 years.
If I weren’t worried about resale value and were buying new, it would be hard to say no to a 150c or TT500. They cost half what new technics do, and they’re good tables…probably better for scratching unless you’re going to competitions or are going to rely on a club to have turntables. Then again, the TT500 at least has a torque selector, so you can practice with it behaving more like a Technics if you want to.
I have no desire to own tables anymore, but I’d seriously consider going that route if I decided I wanted a pair…unless some used m5gs dropped in my lap.

I had the stanton st.150s for about 2 years and just thinking about is making me want to move back to vinyl…
They are an incredible pair of turntables, with some awesome power.
I’ve used my fair share of technics and would still take the st.150s everytime if offered up. The only thing I would say that the technics do have over the st.150s, is that it will be technics in the club. And of course if you can DJ on 150s you can Djing on technics do problem, but it is nice having the turntables you know best in a club.
But i’d still go for the 150s!

If you can afford to cop a st150, you can afford to cop a 1200.
Personally, I copped a cheap stanton t.52 from a buddy who needed money and a t.62 from best buy. I’m happy with them.

But i ended up buying the 1200’s mostly because of the resale value. Im not 100% im gonna love turntables, and if i dont, i could sell them back for basically the same price that i bought them. I got one on ebay for like $240! so it was cheaper than a new t.150 anyway. I still have to buy a cartridge but that wont be too back.
