Camelot Wheel with sound…someone have access to Flash?

Hi all,
I was thinking a cool little Flash app would be a camelot wheel that plays a keyboard sample on a mouse over event. Basically a vector graphic file of the camelot wheel (resolution independence FTW) that plays the appropriate key based on where the mouse hovers or clicks on the wheel. Perhaps it could be extended to play more samples than a piano via drop down list? I don’t have access to a flash app (haven’t checked for free ones) but was wondering if anyone here would be interested in developing something like this. I do have access to adobe illustrator and could assist on that end.
Something like this could make manual key entry a little easier. Thoughts?

One that also tells you what notes make up that key would be helpful too for those newbies looking to learn their basic scales.

That is pretty easy to do… pass me an illustrator with the wheel, the sound samples, and I’ll give you an .exe or an .app

Anyway. To play a key you mean playing the scale of the key? Like for C major C D E F G H I? or some chords? Or the root key?

btw mi mail is: yo at pierbover.com

This broke my brain a lot.

C D E F G A B…

Like how C major contains the notes C, D, E, F, G, A, and B

LOL… yeah…

In spain we use

Do re mi fa sol la si do…

Sorry…

HEHEHHEHE

Remember it (if you like) by making a rhyme out of the letters.

Thats how i was taught at school!

It’s all good pier. I remember back when I was a kid and I’d say that in my music class and my teacher would get SO mad. Like, turn bright red and yell.

Good times :stuck_out_tongue:

you are aware of the draconic licensing page by the MIK people?

i guess you could beg them for a freeware license, in order to be allowed to use what someone else has inveted ages ago. or well you could just not use the terms “camelot” and also not their “camelot notation” to be on the safe side .. or not care either way .. because they would not have a fighting chance in a court room if they would sue you about the thing you describe above. still sucks that they insist on publishing unqialified crap like that ..

that would be great for those of us still learning our scales! =D

If you want to learn something real instead of arbitrary letters and codes, why not just get a circle of fifths? That way you have knowledge that actually applies to something real, and have the ability to communicate with other musicians, understand your own compositions, etc.

There are TONS of interactive circle of fifths guides available, including videos.

Yeah, I will look around for some of this stuff. And you make an excellent point.
Funny thing is that I have ducked mortars and dodged bullets but when I delve into music theory I get really intimidated and actually start sweating. Maybe I have an obscure phobia of sheet music and those insidious treble clefs.
I must learn more about the components/language of sound though. I was trying to dial in on a song’s key the other day by using the virtual keyboard in Rapid Evolution and was getting a touch frustrated by the number of notes that sounded correct. Some songs i thought I was spot on but MiK had different results–though I do understand MiK is not perfect. This is when I thought something a little more interactive such as a circle of fifths wheel with sound would be cool.
