can i use the LEDs after a arcade mod?

can i use the LEDs after a arcade mod?

hi guys!

i just orderd arcade buttons for my vci100 and i wonder if i am the ony one who does not want to loose the LED funktion. so i want to drill holles next to the arcade buttons for the LEDs, just like the midi-fighter.

must i use the 4 cables you snap and don’t use in the video?
must i make another 4 ground cables for the LEDS?
is this possible or am i talking crap?
am i the only one or does somebody has an example for me

i hope i can get some awnsers and maby some cool pics.

jos

(btw sorry for my bad english)

Wow, I never thought about it.^^ Thats a good idea.

they also make clear arcade buttons meant to be lite underneath

good luck

Yup you can still use them, It was a big pain to figure them out because the leds didnt go in and correlation with the order of the button. But i got it to work and drilled holes next to the buttons.

They arnt as good as the arcade buttons we use on the official unit though, there are reasons for us not having LED lit arcade buttons on the official version.

so they’re not orderd out from left till right to lit 1 to 4?
so did you just soldet the leds, and then pushed a button to watch witch led would burn to see where to put them?
and do i have to take the ground for the leds of the right wire?(so attach 8 wires to it)

thanx for your reply

Jos

Could you post some pics?

mayby its a good idea to use the original circuitboard and wire the buttons and leds on it,or not?

Correct that is pretty much what i did to figure out what each wire did.
If you look closely at the connector that clips on the the board of the original buttons there are numbers to each of the wires. 1-12. I wrote out a pinout of what each did. Ill it and post it on this thread for you and that should help you out and save some major time.

Pics coming soon, Leds are currently out so i can put the new overlay on:slight_smile:

Yup you can ^^

I had make this for my arcade edition, and I kept the original circuitboard.

I purshase Arcade button with clear holes, made some little holes on it, and put leds on it.

The problem was to integrate the original circuitboard on the VCI-100 …

i think the solution to that is to flip the cb 90 degrees and place it between the fader and the jogweel. like i saw @ the Anthony More mod:smiley:

Heres what i have:
1-diode
2-sync button
3-drop button
4-cue/pause button
5-play button
6-positive to yellow leds
7-positive to green leds
8-sync to negative of led
9-drop to negative of led
10-cue/pause to negative of led
11-play to negative of led
12-ground

thanx for your help man!! not even close to the way i thought it would be… (i’m not an hero with elektronica.) and i’m still not sure if i will use the circuitboard or not. maybe its easyer with.

and can i buy a led with 2 colours? bequaqs i only want to see 1 light in my vci pr button but with 2 colours. or shoult i make a hole, finish it with some transparant material(glass, plastic) and pace the leds behind it?

any suggestions somebody?

It is difficult, because the colour of such a LED depends on the voltage.
