Carrying cases/bags?

Carrying cases/bags?

So, since this is still a new product, any recommendations on anything to carry it in? I use to have a S4 and the DJTT S4 bag but no longer have them in my possession. I did like the bag, but overtime, just having the one shoulder strap was causing discomfort and pain.

I did hear the DJTT S2 Mono bag does fit but it is snug, so I am looking at other options. I’ve been particularly leaning towards either the Axio Beatbox DJ Bag (http://axioluggage.com/beatbox.html) or the Mono EFX 365 DJ backpack (http://www.monocase.com/mono-efx-dj.asp), but looking at some of the dimensions, I’m not sure the VCI-400 would fit.

Would anybody like to chime in with personal experiences or their own thoughts? I would be eternally grateful. Thanks!

I’ve been looking at the gator messenger bag. Should fit the VCI400. http://www.gatorcases.com/p/123135-1092/g-club-control

I have the UDG producer large backpack and it is fantastic. I have inside my VCI-400 ,my Crane laptop stand ,my macbook pro ,my NI Audio 10 ,earphones ,cables ,Adaptors and have LOT of spare space too !!!

Here’s the link http://www.udggear.com/shop/product.asp?s=26791BAD589C44E9BFF21710002AE153&pid=1412

I have to admit, that does look nice, though a bit expensive for my taste. I won’t rule it out though, just looking at my options. Thanks for the tip!

I bought the MONO S4 DJTT bag and it is perfect. Just a touch big for the VCI but to me it’s a perfect fit.
An incredible bag as well I love it. Well worth the $.

You can also check out “Brady Cases” They do customs. I just got done chatting with their live help, and for a case with a slide out laptop stand, choice of color, and LED lighting around the area of the controller, it’s $450 shipped (roughly). A bit pricey, but another option to look at.

Check out this case it is by Road Runner Model #RRDNMC they sell these for $200 at Guitar Center. It has a built in laptop stand

hey

just got a Fusion Workstation DJ bag, for a VCI400 its absolutly PERFECT! The video below walks through the functions etc, has loads of features and bits that make it a joy to work with. In another video it shows it with an S4 and its just a fraction too big for the “controller pouch”, needing to be packed in the main compartment of the bag without the pouch in the same way as the second (non-akai) controller here. However a VCI 400 fits in the controller pouch snug as a bug, and once this is put in the main case its almost as if its been designed specifically for it, its such a snug, perfect fit that you actully have to give it a fair tug or unzip it all the way down to pull the pouch out.

Gonna do a full set of pics for the “whats in your bag” thread when i get time in a few days.

kevin, that is one of the most thought-out bags i have seen in a while. how are all the handles/straps for it? the one thing i disliked was walking around with a single shoulder strap, but it is not a deal breaker. how much did you get yours for?

Edit: didnt realize it had a backpack system, i think im in love!

Searching online it goes for ~$200. However, only shipping from the UK.

I just bought the bag from their website. I had sent in an email to their US Headquarters, which isn’t located that far away from me, to see if I could actually just buy it there. Surprisingly, I got a response from the US HQ President, but stated that it’s only an online store :disappointed:

Anyways, I’m eagerly anticipating the bag to arrive.

Handles are great.

All feel chunky and solid, and the over the sholder strap works really well, its very wide and the sliding padded section is great, and because the bag is fairly wide but not massivly deep it doesnt stick out a huge amount from your body and balances OK. And as you say you can also pull out the full backpack style sholder strap system if needed.

Yeah designed in the UK though and dont know what or if they have US distrubution.

edit: oh well yeah, as posted above can be bought online in the US

I’m pretty skeptical of the bag idea. No amount of foam padding will keep your controller safe in the event of someone stepping on it, or worse. If your looking for a lightweight, sturdy, lockable hard case that is slim enough to fly carry on with, check out this hard case made my Platt.

the cut out in the foam is pretty much the perfect size to accept the Vci400. I just trimmed out a few notches to give space for the level knobs in the front and back and now it fits perfect, nice and snug. Ran me 130 bucks here in Canada. Plus the lid foam pulls out easy, makes for a nice pad to place your controller on in case needing to stack it on top of a mixer or cdj’s in a cramped booth.

Look at this One:

I’m looking for a VCI-400/laptop trolley bag with wheels that wil fit the controller with a decksaver on it as well

So far, I’ve found these two options:

UDG Creator Wheeled MIDI Controller Case 17"

Any feedback on these bags or others with wheels?

Quick Update:

I received my Fusion Workstation DJ Bag last week and am quite happy with it. The bag is a bit big and clunky, but so far offers the most flexibility. I do wish it had a roller function, like the trolley bags resorte mentioned, but overall, I cannot complain. I use all the modular cases that it comes with and find the sleeve fits over the VCI-400 just fine, albeit a bit stretched. The bag has way more compartments than I actually need, but it is useful to have extra storage when I need it.

If you plan to fly with this, may not be the best option, in which I may look into a trolley bag, but traveling from place to place, I give it a thumbs up. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ll still look for other bag options, I’m just weird like that.

Just picked up the DJ365 bag from Mono. Originally, I got the djtt s4 mono case and it does fit great, but I didn’t like the shoulder bag design, so I went for the 365. One thing to know is that the length of the 400 makes it stick out around 1/4 inch from the inside compartment. This doesn’t matter once you close the bag, but some people might want to know this. As for what it fits, I’ve got my 15 inch MacBook pro, the 400 and the Crane stand all in the center compartment, which leaves both side pockets and the massive front pockets for everything including cans, midi fighter, cables, etc.

Very happy with it, FYI.

Stoked!

I got one of these and it is perfect! http://www.udggear.com/shop/product.asp?s=19ACD65B492746BC9AA784FBA97ACFDA&pid=1415

With DJTT retroactively sending out Mono bags to all previous purchasers of the EGE I’m excited to see how that bag works out. Nice to see them taking care of the early adopters. As much as I liked walking in with that red Vestax box to my first gig with it haha.

i spoke with odyssey cases near the end of march. they’ll have vci400 specific flights [incl laptop stands] available in late april, but will do custom mods to the s4 cases if you need something now.
