CDJ 2000 Nexus Tempo Range Help?

CDJ 2000 Nexus Tempo Range Help?

Hi!

got some cdj 2000 nexus and im loving them! been using the 6% tempo range, but i seem to notice all these big djs such as hot since 82 and gorgon city use the 10% tempo range? what are the advantages of both> is one better for beatmatching ect? will one make it faster/more accurate and less likely to train wreck?

cheers

check out my soundcloud!

You got some nice jams man. Personally I only switch to 10% when I need to. Good technical skills in your sets too with nice work on effects.

Is that D&B track your productions?

Yeah, i did it a few years ago, just messed around and turned out to get 11,000 views haha!

yeah that sounds about what i do already. find 6% means i can get a bit more of an accurate beatmatch

cheers man

It’s a weird one Dylan, because I’ve always absolutely preferred the 6% range, too.

It is more accurate, and I prefer that as I find I need to do less pushing & pulling to keep stuff locked.

But like you, I’ve noticed many famous jocks (and most DJs I know) just go with the 10%. It’s just personal taste really.

it depends on if you are finding tracks out of range. if stuff all fits at ±6, that’s fine. I’m at ±10 because the subtle movement to change a bit doesn’t bug me and I tend to find tracks that still use this whole spread. I’ll switch it to ±16 at times if something is too far away from where I’m playing then switch back.

you can be adaptable with this, it’s situational.

Maybe because at 10% range every bold line on the tempo fader is exactly 2% up/down?
