CDJ 800 mk2 vs cdj 1000 mk3

CDJ 800 mk2 vs cdj 1000 mk3

Besides missing waveforms and hot cues, how do the 800’s compare to the 1000’s? Also, what kinda price should I look for on a used set of either of these?

800s jogs are not nearly as nice as the 1000s and feel kind of cheap and hollow. Get the 1000mk3s. I would look to pay around 1200 for a pair- they go for a bit more on ebay but check craigslist. I used to buy pairs of CDJ-1000MK3s in NYC on craigslist for 900-1000 all the time even before the 2000s were out and they were worth a lot more than they are now just check every day and you’re right there.

I’m sure you can find a pair for 1k if you stay on top of it for a week.

i like my 800mk2’s which go for around £600 a pair, 1000mk3’s are still epic though, look about £900 a pair (ebay prices)

I actually really like the jogs on my 800mk2s better than the ones on the 1000s. Cd ejecting and loading is quicker on the 800s because it doesnt have to load waveforms, idk why it ejects faster though. The pitch range ±10, 100% on the 800s is a little more limited than the ±6, 10, 16, 100% on the 1000s but its never been a problem for me. I would highly recommend the 800s

Jogs on the 800 felt way better than the 1000, I just sold my 1000MKIII’s for $1300, and my 800’s for $325 each…I loved them both, but time for a pair of 900’s!

The 800s are nice but the 1000s has it’s own advantages of course. Jog wheel sensitivity, +/-6% pitch range, plus a lot more.

Personally I would get the 1000s overall better build quality and plus they grey on the 800s looks bad

i use both on a weekly basis, in fact one of the 1000mk3’s broke last night and i ended up using one of each for the best part of my set. i have to say i like them both, the only advantage i see really is the jog sensitivity on the 1000, i always use on 10% pitch, never use the hot cues as i prepare them in traktor and the waveforms are useless to me as again i use timecode. if you cant afford 1000’s the 800’s are a great second.
