I just bought a pair of used cdj 900s and one of them won’t turn on. To see what the problem was, I shook it around to see if it got damaged during shipping and I can hear a slight rattle, although the working one sounded similar but softer, and it turned on after I did that but once I turned it off, it wouldn’t turn on again. I don’t mind sending them in for repair but was wondering if anyone had any ideas what might be wrong.
If you don’t have waranty & you can’t return the broken unit, open it up with the help of youtube.
Take your time, it’s not rocket science but watch out with the ribbon cable that connects the top & lower case (pcb’s).
Is a flexible one (more like plastic sheet like) but it’s not that fragile (just be gentile when you plug it back in).
I cleaned my pitch fader, cue & play buttons, the platter system, … and it was really easy.
Don’t do anything but look for broken or loose parts.
If you can’t find the culprit / source of problem on sight then it’s ready for a trip to the service center.
ALWAYS ask a quote (you pay diagnostic cost that you recup when you chose to repair…if not it’s about $25-40)
so i opened it up and it looks like 3 of the 4 blue/grey element holding the CD player are damaged. they looked like they burst and theres this gooey stuff coming out of them. the 4th one is fine and intact. i tried to line them up as best i could and the CD player turns on now. any idea what that part is and how much it would cost to fix?
well it was a good price, not sure about REALLY good. and they are functional now…just a bit quirky. also i dont know how much repairs typically go for…so if it turns out more than i expected then maybe ill be
No bueno, I presume I had a nasty fall…
To make shure I would bring it in because most likely a cdj will power when dampers are broken, so you may have other problems (electrics)
