^^^ hahahha.
Yes!! Workin on it ![]()
I’m gonna be the odd guy out here and say with the right settings, a Pro X Fader, and A LOT of practice, the VCI-100 can sound great when scratching.
No, it doesn’t sound like vinyl
or Itch,
or QBert, Ever.
But it’s a sound, and you can make it sound good.
There are like two, maybe three videos I’ve ever seen online that show VCI-100 scratching not to be laughed at. I hope to be number four lol!![]()
DONT SCRATCH WITH THE VCI-100 its terrible!!! ![]()
your best bet if you wanna scratch is gonna be timecode with vinals..
yeah…i must agree here too.
I only recently been really tweaking the finer points…but only as I am just starting to appreciate it now.
Last night…i hooked up TSP and its response was OK…not the best.
So I started tweaking…(software and hardware) and finally got it ROCKING TIGHT!
48 000…1MS delay.

What about this 'ere VCI 100 SE I been reading about in the shop on DJTT? Whats the difference performance wise? It says the regular VCI has button bugs & only goes up to 1.2 firmware version. How bad is this button bug? Is there any performance differences with the platter response? Can the 1.3 version be loaded on to the regular VCI?
I obviously want the best I can get but if there’s not gonna be any difference on the scratching front I’m not too fussed.
Any info there greatly appreciated
The 1.3 FM update is exclusive to DJTT…it fixes some of the bugs left by Vestax.
Also, I would recommend using Ean’s TSI mapping and overlay.
Its the only way to fly.
The SE is just an updated firmware (nothing to do with platters or jogs) which allows you to do certain functions Ean has cooked up.
The Arcade button mod is also the bizznizz.
The original buttons are junk.
the Arcade buttons allow you to smash…crab…etc

What have been the best settings you guys have used on the jogs?
can’t remember of the top of my head - but you are changing the settings under scratch/tempo bend?
I think I had mine set to 3% and 6%
(don’t really remember what each one was - I think one was acceleration?)
FW 1.3 does change the jog wheel performance by eliminating the start-up problem that the video you posted shows (Ean uses the video as an example of the issue).
You can convert any VCI-100 to FW 1.3 (essentially making an SE, just add the overlay), but unless you find one used, the DJTT option will probably be the cheapest.
I really recommend adding a Pro X Fader if you want to do any scratching, the performance increase is quite substantial (as Bento already pointed out). The swap is really straight forward.
I’m interested to see what you could do with a VCI!
Phil.
Wicked, thanks for the help. Anyone looking to sell hit me up
I have not tried setting the jogs for scratching…got TC’s instead.
The ramp up issue is only with FM 1.1 not so?
I don;t have that issue…and I have 1.2.
LMAO! ^ This should be a standard rating for all future controller reviews.
WOAH! Why has nobody mentioned Otus? I would say that you might be able to do better on the Otus than you would be able to do on a CDJ… From my experience that is, although I don’t even like scratching.
@Haze: I have the scratch command set to 3% sensitivity, 4% acceleration right now. I like the acceleration as high as 6% too, just haven’t decided what feels best yet. No other commands affect scratching (no tempo bend or whatever you were saying). I have a Pro X in there.
I don’t have a video camera, but I’m totally gonna put an audio clip up here, proof of concept LOL!
vci
I had a vci-100 and loved it for mixing etc but when it came to cutting i did not like it and messed with all the settings i could, i could not afford a ns7 and it was too big for me, so with my style i went vci-300 and its good for cutting even though the jog dials are not massive it feels perfect, apart from that i’d use a cdj1000 via timecode.
