Channel levels?
Channel levels on my s4 software are not going up to corrisponde with the actual s4 unit? Everything else works fine apart from this stange problem, i have tried a reinstall but still the same problem, when i move the faders down they still stay up on the software? Any advice, i have TP2 2.02 and the s4 3 driver updated. and also how can i get back my 4 backs of channels that i used to have as i,m stuck with just channels 1 and 2 and the moment on the software?

That’s how they are supposed to work. The level indicators on the S4 and in the software will still show the deck output, even with the volume fader down.
No defo when i first got my s4 and used the s4 software the channel volume leds corresponded with the software, ie they came down on the s4 when i pulled them down. The main volume fader leds on s4 and software come down when i pull down the channel faders, so whats with the channel faders staying up all the time? I,m 100% sure the came down b4 on the controller and the software, anyone else have this problem as it carzy as i have to mix by ear as when i pull the volume faders nothing happens to indicate that the voulume is lowering, now that just wouldn’t happen on ANY mixer now would it, it nuts?
That is the way it has worked on every conventional mixer I have owned, and it is how it works on the S4. The LED’s for each channel are meant to indicate the individual channel gains… your actual output is displayed in the Master Output display.
so there is NO way at all i can get the leds on the channels to come down at all? like i said i,m positive they came down before?
Stopping the track is the only way I know of.
so i,m guess i,m stuck with leds that stay all the way up to the top on my s4 even when the fader is pulled right down with the track playing??, did i imagine that this wasnt the case before?
i have always mixed with the faders, not the gains it driving me nuts
How in the world does the individual channel level meter affect your mixing technique?? They are meant to indicate the channel level, to ensure the track your are going to mix in is at the proper level, so that you don’t have to adjust the gains. The gains should be set prior to bringing in the next track. The only levels you should be keeping an eye on during transitions is the master output.
Well seeing where the led levels are on the channel faders in a pitch black club is useful!!! i understand what you are saying about the gains etc but once they are set(which i always do then i would like to be able to SEE buy how much my channels are coming down in the pitch black thats all?
Not trying to get into a lecture session, but you should be mixing using your ears, not your eyes. That’s just fundamental… a deaf person usually makes a terrible DJ. Like I said, the individual channel meters are there for one reason… to tell you what the output of the channel will be when you increase the volume fader to max. It is up to the DJ to determine when and how much to increase or decrease that fader.
No need for the lecture m8 i have been doing this since 93 on 1210 mrk 2’s, progressing through the various technologys (and playing to hundreds of people and getting paid for it) so no need to tell me about playing using my ears…PMSL i kinda know what i,m about :eek: just wanted to know if i could get the leds to move up and down on the faders once the i,m happy with the gains
and btw the gain levels should really be were you should be looking and setting as well as the main level, correct??
