Damn Modifiers

Damn Modifiers

My head is bursting with this so hopefully someone can shed a little light on it.

I’ve setup a button on my TR1 as a modifier and set all the effects buttons as hotcues when the button is pressed.

Heres what happens: I press the ‘modifier’ button and then press an effect button it jumps to the relevant hotcue. I then have to press the button again to switch off so I can active the effects.

I really want it where I have to press and hold the ‘modifier’ button to active the hotcues and when I let go I can active my effects.

I have it set to ‘button’ and ‘hold’

Hope someone can shed a little light on this for me. Also note I’m still very new to all this.

Cheers.

you have both the effect commands and the hotcue commands set to work on the relevant modifier (FX: M1=0 HC M1=1)?

Thats what I have done.

All I want to do is hold the modifer button to activate my hotcues. But I don’t get why I have to hit the modifier button once, activate the hotcue then press the modifier button again to switch off.

I know it may not help but here is a screenshot:

It doesn’t make a difference if I can the modifier from direct to hold

I’ve done this with two buttons because i had a button left on my oxy

My Play button set the M1=1 and my stop button sets M1=0. My logical thinking was: Play enters the “Mixing Mode” and Stop is for exit to “Effects Mode”. you can try it while you don’t figure out whats wrong… I’m new to midi mapping too so your not all alone

You have the second MOdifier #1 set to Direct. Delete that line and just have the first line

Tried that and now the buttons only active the hotcues whether the modifer button is pressed or not. I can’t active my effects now???

This is mega

modifiers do not have toggle function therefore you must have a button that toggles or use a switch as toggle. the button that you assign your modifiers is not a toggle switch i guess its just one time activate button. reselect again (modifier #1 set to direct) which you have deleted and find a button that toggles or use a switch for the modifier.

The Direct command works as a toggle. If coded properly it is a toggle command.

Get rid of the m1=0 in the Hold line. that might work

Here’s how it should look

Modifier #1 / in / global / hold / “the button” / no modifiers
set this to make modifier 1 a 1 state

delete the modifier direct mapping like dvls said

set all your FX to m=0 for the modifiers and your Hotcues to m=1 and it should work like a charm.

Thanks Phaidon. Couldn’t test this at work and, well, haven’t played with modifiers in a while.

Working perfect. Followed your simple steps Phaidon. I think I was making it more complicated than it had to be.

Thanks everybody that helped me out. I appreciate it.

keep trying different mappings
You can do the same functionality with more then 1 way of map, just try what would be better to not have may actions and modifiers that you doesn’t really need.
If you add a lot of modifiers your map will look like a mess and will be hard to make any change in it.
